The National Library of South Africa will reinvest in their local library management practices by moving all library functions to the OCLC WorldShare platform. WorldShare provides a complete set of library management applications and platform services built on an open, cloud-based platform and offers integrated management of library workflows that create new efficiencies as libraries share work, data and resources to save money and deliver value to their users. Sabinet. Paving the way for South African university libraries. Sabinet successfully rolled out the OCLC WorldShare Management Services to the University of Pretoria – the second academic university in Africa to adopt this system. WMS is a complete, cloud-based library management system that offers all the applications needed to manage a library: acquisitions, circulation, metadata, resource sharing, licence management, reports and a single-search discovery interface for end users. WMS's discovery interface, WorldCat Discovery, enables UP's university community to search the library's entire collection, as well as materials held by libraries worldwide, with a single search. Sabinet. The University of Pretoria chooses WorldShare Management System for their library. After closely evaluating the different options available in South Africa and globally, University of Pretoria made the decision to award a tender to Sabinet for OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services in their libraries. The library of the University of Pretoria is regarded as one of the best university libraries in South Africa. It provides a comprehensive information service for the university’s approximately 39 000 undergraduate students, 25 000 postgraduates and 4 000 full time staff members. [Full Announcement].
