MARCIVE, Inc.. MARCIVE now has more than 20 subscribers to Comprehensive Notification Service. In February 2017, MARCIVE released a new product that helps libraries keep a better handle on how authorities processing is performed in their ILS or LSP. Over the years, customers had commented how once an initial backfile authorities processing project was completed and Standard Notification Service was begun, their systems didn’t always do a good job using the monthly updated authority records to revise the associated bibliographic records. It was difficult to pinpoint why and in what cases an access point would not be updated, even though the proper information was present in the revised authority record. [Full Announcement].

MARCIVE, Inc.. MARCIVE assists LC in creation of LCGFT authority records. Library of Congress Genre/Form Terms for Library and Archival Materials (LCGFT), is replacing the former Guidelines on Subject Access to Individual Works of Fiction, Drama, Etc. (GSAFD). While many libraries still use GSAFD terms in their catalogs, this controlled vocabulary list is no longer updated by the American Library Association. LCGFT provides a live, developing international standard for genre and form access to individual works of fiction, drama, poetry, humor, and folklore, etc. in all formats. Subject headings describe what a work is about, while genre/from terms describe what a work is. [Full Announcement].

MARCIVE, Inc., announces that an agreement has been signed with Syndetic Solutions for the provision of cataloging enrichment data. Data available from Syndetic Solutions include tables of contents, as well as fiction and biography data containing a variety of access points including topics, sub-genre, settings, time periods, awards, series/sequel information, main characters, and the characters'' attributes.
