(EBSCO Information Services) EBSCO Information Services and ConTech 2019 are partnering to ensure more librarians attend the event in December. EBSCO will sponsor the conference — a sponsorship that will include a submission process that will allow four librarians to attend for free as well as a 50 percent discount for all librarian attendees, along with two opportunities for library student bursaries.

(EBSCO Information Services) EBSCO Information Services announced its three 2019 EBSCO Solar Grant Winners. Hedgesville Public Library in Hedgesville, West Virginia; New Port Richey Public Library in New Port Richey, Florida; and Medicine Hat College in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, will each receive $100,000 to pay for the installation of a solar array. The grants offset the cost of installing solar panels and allow libraries to reduce their electricity expenditures.

(EBSCO Information Services) EBSCO Information Services and the Graphic Novel Committee of the Children’s Book Council announced Speak: The Graphic Novel, written by Laurie Halse Anderson and illustrated by Emily Carroll, as the 2019 recipient of the SEE-IT Award.

(EBSCO Information Services) BMJ Open published an open access paper which defines the “certainty of net benefit” as a proposed method to report the impact of clinical recommendations. The report follows two years of development and deliberation within the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation Working Group, an international collaborative that defines the most widely used method for expressing the certainty of evidence and strength of recommendations in clinical practice guidelines.

The Carroll Center for the Blind, based in Newton, Massachusetts, offers a wide range of comprehensive services for the blind and visually impaired at all ages and all stages of vision loss.

The scholarships are in partnership with the American Library Association. The scholarships aim to help the winning librarians defray the cost of travel and other expenses so they can take advantage of the conference’s professional development and networking opportunities.

The resource is a collaboration between Choice and Charleston Advisor, two well-known and highly respected review sources.

(EBSCO Information Services) EBSCO Information Services has formally partnered with StackMap, a digital platform for indoor mapping, so that customers may benefit from StackMap’s integrated services with EBSCO Discovery Service in addition to other catalogs, easing the process of physically locating items in libraries in an effort to enhance the patron experience. StackMap, a library company founded in 2008, looks to empower patrons via indoor collection mapping. This integration with EDS, launched in 2016, allows libraries to help users find print materials within their physical library more effectively. StackMap services also enable users to browse the library’s physical space and resources on a kiosk, tablet or website, as well as locate available computers and study spaces.
