OCLC OCLC's CloudLibrary honored with Gold 2026 Modern Library Award. CloudLibrary, OCLC's platform that offers access to a wide variety of digital content through libraries, has received Gold recognition as part of the 2026 Modern Library Awards from LibraryWorks. CloudLibrary provides access to a rich collection of digital content in a single app, including millions of ebooks and audiobooks as well as tens of thousands of magazines, digital newspapers, digital comics, and streaming video titles. McGraw Hill McGraw Hill, Inc. announces CEO Succession Plan. McGraw Hill, a leading global provider of education solutions for K-12, higher education and professional learning, today announced that Philip Moyer will become the Company's President and CEO and join the Board of Directors effective February 9, 2026. Moyer succeeds Simon Allen, who will retire as President and CEO after leading the Company since October 2019. Allen will continue as Chair of the Company's Board of Directors and will work closely with Moyer and the McGraw Hill executive team to ensure a smooth transition and help steer the Company's long-term growth strategies. American Library Association Thousands of library professionals gather for education and inspiration at American Library Association's LibLearnX conference in Baltimore. Thousands of library professionals gathered in Baltimore for the American Library Association's second annual LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience (LLX). Overdrive Libraries achieve record-breaking circulation of digital media in 2023. Librarians and educators achieved new milestones in 2023 by providing increasingly robust streaming options to satisfy the interests of all ages and audiences. Readers worldwide borrowed 662 million ebooks, audiobooks and digital magazines, a 19 percent increase over 2022. This growth was driven by a regular cadence of new release blockbuster titles, as well as new Libby reading app features and cost-effective access models. Streaming video through libraries and colleges on Kanopy also reached a record 23 million plays. Aggregated data was reported by OverDrive, the leading digital content platform for 92,000 libraries and schools in 115 countries worldwide. 2023 also marked the award-winning Libby app's one billionth digital book checkout. Due to the outreach efforts of 22,000 public libraries around the globe, more than 9 million people installed the Libby app in 2023 and became new library users, signaling the continued expansion of library services both inside and outside the branch. KKR KKR to acquire Simon & Schuster from Paramount Global for $1.62 Billion. Paramount Global announced the signing of a definitive agreement pursuant to which KKR will acquire Simon & Schuster for $1.62 billion in an all-cash transaction. After the closing of the transaction, Simon & Schuster will become a standalone private company and will continue to be led by Jonathan Karp, President and CEO and Dennis Eulau, COO and CFO of Simon & Schuster.
