US News & World Report, the global authority in education rankings and consumer advice, published the 2024-2025 Best Global Universities rankings, which evaluate more than 2,250 schools on academic research and reputation. Ex Libris Universidade Estadual Paulista becomes the first institution in Brazil to select Ex Libris Alma. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, announced that Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) (São Paulo State University) has selected the Ex Libris Alma library services platform to unify the management of its physical and electronic library collections and provide seamless access to the digital collection, an aggregate of more than three million items. For the 34 member libraries, the Alma platform will replace the Ex Libris Aleph system, which has served the institution for more than two decades. Unesp is the first Brazilian university to implement Alma cloud services. [Full Announcement].

EBSCO Information Services EDS helps Universidade do Porto in Portugal increase usage of library resources. Universidade do Porto, the largest university in Portugal, has found great success with the implementation of EBSCO Discovery Service from EBSCO Information Services. VTLS, Inc.. Twenty-one libraries select Virtua this quarter. VTLS Inc. ended its fiscal year on June 30, 2002, on a very high note with increased customers, revenues and profits. At its Board Meeting on July 15, Board members were presented with unaudited results indicating a six percent growth in revenues with profits at nine percent of revenues. [Full Announcement].

Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Portugal's most prestigious technical University to install the Millennium Library Automation System. The Universidade Técnica de Lisboa has chosen Millennium from Innovative Interfaces as the replacement library automation system for all of its libraries. The University is one of the largest in Portugal and comprises seven technical institutes, who will be migrating from CDS/ISIS and LIBERTAS systems. The two LIBERTAS libraries, Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão and Instituto Superior Técnico, have been customers of SLS Information Systems, now the European Division of Innovative, since 1995 and 1993 respectively. The University''s seven libraries will be linked together and share resources from one Millennium system, which will be located at the University Chancellor''s offices. The system will be licensed for 70 staff users and unlimited OPAC users, and will run Millennium on a Compaq Alpha. [Full Announcement].

VTLS, Inc.. Govenor Gilmore announces international contract for VTLS: Blacksburg firm partners with Rio university as a result of trade mission to South America. During a signing ceremony at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro , Governor Gilmore today announced that VTLS has signed a contract to supply library cataloging software to the 18,000-student university. The Governor met with VTLS executives and UERJ officials today, the third day of his South America trade mission. [Full Announcement].

Ex Libris New ALEPH site in Brazil. The library of the Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS), has selected ALEPH500 from Ex Libris as their new library automation system. In the southern-most state of Brazil, UNISINOS is located in the city of Sao Leopoldo, the cradle of the German colonization of the country. As a Jesuit institution, the university was conceived and structured as an educational institution where integral human development is fostered through undergraduate, graduate and extension programs, research projects and community outreach and cultural action programs.
