OCLC awarded IMLS grant to develop free online continuing education program for public library staff. OCLC has been awarded a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to partner with the Idaho Commission for Libraries to develop a free online continuing education program for public library staff. The project will replace an outdated series and result in a new set of courses for library staff on core library services such as collection development, collection maintenance, cataloging, and delivery of programming and services that are responsive to community needs. Minitex selects ReShare hosted by Index Data for MNLINK. Minitex and Index Data announced that Minitex has selected ReShare to replace the VDX system that supports MNLINK, Minitex's groundbreaking statewide system that has revolutionized library access and resource sharing for patrons and staff across Minnesota since its initial launch in 2004. MNLINK's new platform is scheduled to go live by early summer, 2024. The new MNLINK, powered by ReShare and VuFind and hosted by Index Data, will serve as a comprehensive discovery and interlibrary loan interface, providing library patrons with seamless access to library materials from across Minnesota. ReShare Returnables Launched by PALCI. Community Webs joins the Digital Public Library of America. Internet Archive's Community Webs program is announced a partnership with the Digital Public Library of America to ingest metadata from the over 700 publicly available Community Webs web archive collections into DPLA. These collections include thousands of archived websites and millions of individual web-published resources that document local history and underrepresented groups. The Internet Archive has been a DPLA content provider since 2015, primarily contributing content from our many print digitizing partnerships. Community Webs will also join DPLA as a member and we are excited for this opportunity to add hyperlocal born-digital and web collections from public libraries nationwide into DPLA's national portal to cultural heritage collections. Fenway Library Organization and Index Data announce partnership. Fenway Library Organization has selected Index Data to support their adoption of the FOLIO Library Services Platform. The organizations will partner to migrate and support two of FLO’s members – Wentworth Institute of Technology and Simmons University – to FOLIO in June 2020. ImpactStory. Impactstory awarded $850k to build open-access, AI-powered scholarly search engine, aims to help public find and understand research. Nonprofit startup Impactstory announced new funding of $850,000, received as a grant from Arcadia, a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin, to build a free search engine designed to help the public find, read, and understand peer-reviewed research on any topic.
