Private Academic Library Network of Indiana PALNI celebrates 30 years of excellence. The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2022. Since its first library-to-library collaboration in the 1980s, PALNI has worked to advance the educational missions of its supported institutions by sharing resources and leveraging expertise. The consortium was approved as a nonprofit organization in 1992 and has grown to support 24 private colleges, universities and seminaries—serving more than 47,500 students and faculty throughout the state. Private Academic Library Network of Indiana PALNI awarded an ARPA grant to launch an initiative in open bibliographic data management. The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana announced that it has received an American Rescue Plan Act grant of $225,000 from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Indiana State Library. The planning grant will enable PALNI to identify ways of expanding current infrastructure to support open bibliographic data management tools, which library staff use to manage and share collections. The project aims to significantly enhance financial sustainability and access to information, allowing libraries to further deliver on their critical role in student success. [Full Announcement].

Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) a $275,000 grant to support PALSave, the consortium's affordable learning initiative. OCLC Operationalizing the Art Research Collective Collection (OpArt). Art libraries play a vital role in supporting art scholarship, but COVID-19 impacts have strained budgets and sustainability challenges are more acute than ever. To respond to these challenges and build institutional sustainability, art libraries will look to innovative partnerships and collaborations as one way forward. Understanding the opportunities, challenges, and potential strategies for cooperation between art, academic, and independent research libraries can help identify new collaborative models to support the continued availability of the art research collective collection. Operationalizing the Art Research Collective Collection (OpArt), an OCLC Research project, will help art libraries identify potential collaborative models to address shared sustainability barriers and consider practically what institutions will need to make these models operational. Atlas Systems, Inc. Washington University in St. Louis is live with ArchivesSpace supported by Atlas Systems. Washington University in Saint Louis is live using ArchivesSpace to manage and provide web access to their archives and special collections. ByWater Solutions Saint Vincent College goes live on FOLIO with ByWater Solutions Support. ByWater Solutions, America's forefront provider of Open Source library technology support, announced that Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania is now live on FOLIO. ByWater completed the transition of the library's 195,000 plus records from Millennium this winter and is providing ongoing support services to the library. As part of their partnership with ByWater, EBSCO Information Services will be providing hosting services along with complimentary products to ensure a complete and well managed FOLIO instance. Bethel College, in Mishawaka, Indiana, and Saint Mary's College, in Notre Dame, Indiana, have joined the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI), and are now part of the OCLC WorldShare Management Services community. Private Academic Library Network of Indiana Bethel College and Saint Mary's College join the PALNI Consortium and the PALNI group OCLC WorldShare Management Services. The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana announced the addition of two institutions, Bethel College and Saint Mary's College, to the PALNI family. Bethel College and Saint Mary's College join a highly engaged and collaborative group of private college and seminary libraries across the state bringing the number of supported institutions up to twenty-four. PALNI uses OCLC's WorldShare Management Services to provide direct, unmediated access to the collective collections of all the institutions without the need to export or import records. OCLC is also continuing development in WMS to support collaboration in analytics, licensing, and more. [Full Announcement].
