cOAlition S cOAlition S confirms the end of its financial support for Open Access publishing under transformative arrangements after 2024. Transformative arrangements – including Transformative Agreements and Transformative Journals – were developed to encourage subscription journals to transition to full and immediate open access within a defined timeframe. After careful consideration of the outcomes of transformative arrangements, the leadership of cOAlition S reaffirms that, as a principle, its members will no longer financially support these arrangements after 2024. Solus SOLUS launches a brand new Library App for 2023. Mobile App. The Library Corporation announced that the Waukee Public Library is live with TLC.Go! -- the latest mobile app solution provided by TLC. Those who live in and around Waukee, Iowa, can now access their favorite library services via Android and iOS, thanks to a seamless connection between TLC.Go! and WPL's integrated library system, Library.Solution. Overdrive OverDrive launches Deep Search and Notify Me features to help readers discover books beyond the library's collection. OverDrive announced innovative new features that uniquely benefit librarians, readers and publishers. Deep search and Notify Me tags in the Libby reading app help readers discover titles beyond the library's collection and indicate titles of interest. When a reader searches for a book in Libby by name, author or subject, the new deep search feature presents additional titles from OverDrive's complete catalog of over 5 million titles, even if the books are not in the library's digital collection. By tapping "Notify Me" on a title that is not in the library's collection, the reader alerts their library of their interest and Libby notifies the reader if the title is purchased and made available to borrow. HathiTrust Vinopal to join HathiTrust as Associate Director. HathiTrust announced that Jennifer Vinopal has been appointed HathiTrust's first Associate Director. Vinopal will assume a key leadership role at a pivotal moment in HathiTrust's 15th year with responsibility for day-to-day activities and integrated development of HathiTrust's programs and services. Reporting to Executive Director, Mike Furlough, she will lead the expansion of critical operations activity to align resources and strategic priorities [Full Announcement].

American Library Association American Library Association announces new transformational grant from Mellon Foundation. The American Library Association announced a new grant in the amount of $5,515,000 from the Mellon Foundation to help ALA advance its mission of enhancing the profession of librarianship and ensuring access to information for all. The grant, which marks Mellon's most significant investment in ALA mission work thus far, will positively impact several programs and initiatives, including those dedicated to expanding advocacy for intellectual freedom and countering censorship and book bans, scholarships and career development support for Black, Indigenous and People of Color librarians, scaling adult and digital literacy instruction, the continuation of COVID-19 relief funding, organizational capacity building in libraries, and more. Council on Library and Information Resources Stacey Patton named CLIR Communications Manager. CLIR announced the appointment of Stacey Patton as communications manager. Patton is an award-winning journalist and author who teaches digital journalism in the Cathy Hughes School of Communications at Howard University. Her writings have appeared in numerous publications, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Al Jazeera, and the Chronicle of Higher Education, where she served as a senior enterprise reporter covering graduate education, faculty research, adjunct labor, and diversity issues. Wiley Wiley and CzechELib sign first open access agreement in Czech Republic. Wiley announced an open access agreement with Czech National Library of Technology. The four-year agreement will provide CzechELib participants access to view and publish in Wiley's complete hybrid journal portfolio, which includes 1,400 journals, beginning January 16, 2023. Wiley is pioneering the open access movement in Czech Republic, being one of the first publishers to sign an open access agreement within the country. Participating researchers will be able to publish nearly 650 articles open access within the first year. [Full Announcement].

Gale Group Gale Digital Scholar Lab adds new collaboration feature to support digital humanities projects in the classroom. Gale, part of Cengage Group is bringing real-time team collaboration to the Gale Digital Scholar Lab platform to support project-based learning. The company has launched a new collaboration feature called Gale Digital Scholar Lab: Groups. Developed based on feedback from Lab users, this new functionality enables researchers, instructors and students at the same institution to collaborate on digital humanities projects within the platform and explore Gale Primary Sources in new and exciting ways.
