Arkivum. Princeton University selects Arkivum to preserve and safeguard its vast digital records and collections repository. Arkivum announce that Princeton University Library has selected Arkivum Perpetua to deliver cloud-based digital preservation and safeguarding services supporting its world-renowned records and collections. The Arkivum Perpetua solution will help Princeton University Library address the challenges of managing the growing amount of born-digital content, all in a variety of file formats and policies. These challenges are coupled with strict security requirements for handling personal data such as student records and complex user access policies dictated by the university information governance policies. Arkivum. Arkivum, Artefactual, the Open Preservation Foundation and Preservica collaborate on new Jisc initiative for sharing preservation action best-practice. In a new initiative supported by Jisc, Preservica, Arkivum, the Open Preservation Foundation and Artefactual will work together to deliver a proof-of-concept Preservation Action Registry (PAR) to exchange preservation action best practice within the preservation community and between different preservation systems. This exchange of preservation knowledge and its practical implementation has the potential to vastly accelerate the pace of digital preservation research and the deployment of best practice to live systems. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Educopia and UNC SILS receive IMLS funding for study of open source software implementation to improve archival workflows for born-digital materials. The Educopia Institute and the UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS) have been awarded a grant worth over $681,000 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for OSSArcFlow, a project to investigate and support the adoption of open source tools for libraries, archives, and museums (LAMs). The research team will engage with 12 partner institutions to research, devise, and test various strategies for implementing three leading open source software (OSS) technologies, the BitCurator environment, ArchivesSpace, and Archivematica. Open Preservation Foundation Artefactual Systems becomes the newest member of the Open Preservation Foundation. Artefactual Systems is the lead developer of three open-source software tools, Archivematica for digital preservation, AtoM for archival description and online access, and Binder for digital repository management. DuraSpace. New Open Source Preservation SolutionóRun Archivematica 1.3.0 Locally or in DuraCloud. Artefactual has announced the release of Archivematica 1.3.0 with full DuraCloud integration. Archivematica is an open source digital preservation system with a web-based dashboard for ingesting digital holdings and generating Archival Information Packages (AIPs). DuraCloud is an open source cloud≠-based archiving and preservation service platform that manages and preserves digital objects in secure, replicated storage. Archivematica 1.3.0 now features the ability to configure the storage option to deposit AIPs into DuraCloud archival cloud storage via the web-based dashboard. Institutions and organizations may now choose to implement the Archivematica open source preservation stack in-house, or to take advantage of the DuraCloud hosted service for long-term secure archival storage directly from their hosted Archivematica dashboard.
