Center for Research Libraries Johns Hopkins joins Center for Research Libraries. The Center for Research Libraries and Johns Hopkins Libraries are pleased to announce that Johns Hopkins University recently became a full-voting member of the Center for Research Libraries, a partnership of more than 200 university, college, and independent research libraries. EBSCO Information Services EBSCO Information Services releases Serials Price Projection Report for 2023. EBSCO Information Services has published the 2023 Serials Price Projection Report. This year's report projects that the overall effective publisher price increases for academic and academic medical libraries are expected to be (before any currency impact) in the range of three to five percent for individual e-journal titles, two to three percent for e-journal packages and four to six percent for print titles. EveryLibrary Library Advocacy and Funding Conference (LAFCON) 2022 reframes political action and organizing for libraries. The Library Advocacy and Funding Conference will help library leaders and advocates build new skills and better networks to address long-standing problems with library funding in communities and schools. On September 26 -28, 2022, EveryLibrary and the EveryLibrary Institute hosted LAFCON 2022 to help librarians stand up to defend the core principles of librarianship and equip themselves to overcome politically motivated attacks on education and our anchor institutions. Elsevier Elsevier appoints Emily Singley to the newly created role of Vice President, North American Library Relations. Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Singley to the newly-created role of Vice President, Library Relations, North America. Emily will join Elsevier to strengthen the company's relationships with the North American library community, and to reinforce Elsevier's commitment to be a trusted, innovative, and collaborative provider of services and content. She will report to Gwen Evans, Vice President of Global Library Relations, who joined Elsevier in 2020 from OhioLink to lead the company's engagement and partnerships with the librarian community. JISC Jisc and UCISA agree closer working on key sector challenges. The alliance brings together two of the sector's trusted partners: Jisc, the UK's sector agency focused on digital, data and technology in tertiary education and research, and UCISA, which brings a unique ability to represent digital practitioners with insight, authority and authenticity. Joint activities will include co-authoring publications, promoting good practice within and beyond the sector, and arranging expert speakers at each other's events. The Library Corporation TLC partners with ALA to Unite Against Book Bans. The Library Corporation has partnered with the American Library Association to Unite Against Book Bans, a national grassroots campaign to engage the public in the fight against censorship. This non-partisan campaign leverages the reach of national organizations representing librarians, educators, parents, authors, publishers, distributors, champions for civil liberties, civil rights, and equality, and more. Clarivate Clarivate Supports Peer Review Week by Raising the Profile of Peer Reviewers. Clarivate celebrates Peer Review Week with the announcement of new services for authors to better track their peer review activity. This includes academic publications, citation metrics and journal editing, now all in one place within the newly launched Web of Science Researcher Profiles. Clarivate recently launched the next generation of Web of Science Researcher Profiles to incorporate the best features of Publons and ResearcherID, creating a one-stop destination for researchers to manage their academic profile and demonstrate their expertise, including in peer review. ByWater Solutions ByWater Solutions announces September 2022 Community Giveback winner. Each month, ByWater Solutions selects one library to be awarded $500. These funds are meant to support libraries and their communities and fill gaps in funding to further library goals. Springer Nature Springer Nature Joins PubHive Document Delivery Service. PubHive announced an agreement with Springer Nature to make Springer Nature journal articles available via PubHive's new document delivery service that will launch in the coming months. The agreement will enable PubHive to better serve its growing base of life science corporate customers by providing direct purchasing, fulfillment, copyright royalty payment services, and subscription-related resources for Springer Nature content that is purchased via PubHive Navigator, the company's cloud-based workflow automation platform. Gale Group Gale and Boston Public Library deliver new online accredited high school completion program to adult residents. As students head back to school, adult residents in Massachusetts now have the opportunity to obtain their high school diploma from their local public library. The Boston Public Library offers Gale Presents: Excel Adult High School, an accredited online diploma completion program from Gale, part of Cengage Group. The program is designed to help busy adults who have aged out of the education system obtain their high school diploma online with the convenience of a self-paced schedule. Boston Public Library began piloting the program at the end of 2021 and has already had two students graduate. [Full Announcement].

Clarivate Clarivate reveals Citation Laureates 2022: Annual List of Researchers of Nobel Class. Clarivate named 20 world-class researchers from four countries as Citation Laureates. These are researchers whose work is deemed to be ‘of Nobel class', as demonstrated by analysis carried out by the Institute for Scientific Information, part of Clarivate. [Full Announcement].

Library of Congress Library of Congress launches effort to transform collections management and access. The Library of Congress has awarded a major contract to further develop and implement a new, open-source IT platform that will revolutionize how the Library's vast physical and digital collections are managed and made accessible for the public, Congress, Library employees and other institutions. The Library awarded an IDIQ contract to EBSCO Information Services, of Ipswich, Massachusetts with an initial spend of $7.77 million. The first phase of the platform's development will cost $10.4 million over three years to meet the scale and complexity of the Library's operations, with options to invest in additional components that could be developed by other vendors and may extend beyond the three-year timeframe. SPARC Subscribe-to-Open Community of Practice statement on the OSTP Nelson Memo. The Subscribe to Open Community of Practice is an informal collective of over forty pro-open publishers, libraries, consortia, funders, service providers, and other stakeholders committed to providing equitable and economically sustainable OA publishing. The S2O Community of Practice welcomes the US Office of Science and Technology Policy memorandum on ensuring free, immediate, and equitable access to federally funded research. [Full Announcement].

International Coalition of Library Consortia Strategies for Collaboration: Opportunities and Challenges to Build the Future We Need. The ICOLC Strategies for Open Collaboration in Library Consortia Task Force was initially formed to develop strategies for consortia and libraries to interact with vendors and the open source community to address pricing, standards/interoperability, and access challenges. We were charged with developing a report that would: Outline what libraries should do differently in their ongoing relationships with vendors and the open source community; Suggest alternatives to the typical library/vendor model, especially open source/community-owned efforts that address the needs outlined in the report; Articulate a broad vision for how these efforts tie together and provide a framework for libraries to support these projects.
