iParadigms. iParadigms acquires Ephorus to support international expansion. iParadigms, creators of Turnitin, announced the company has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Ephorus, the European leader in plagiarism prevention with more than 5,000 customers in over 45 countries. The agreement will allow the two companies to strengthen their plagiarism prevention databases, build out European data centers and accelerate innovation around student learning and feedback. Acquisition of iParadigms for $752 Million Led by Insight Venture Partners. iParadigms, creators of Turnitin, today announced the company has reached a definitive agreement to be acquired for $752 million by Insight Venture Partners, a leading global private equity firm focused on high-growth investments in the technology sector, and GIC, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund. Turnitin introduces Translated Matching for multilingual plagiarism detection. iParadigms, creators of Turnitin and the leader in originality checking and online grading, announced the release of automated translation technology that enables Turnitin to identify potentially plagiarized content that has been translated. The new technology secures Turnitin as the forerunner in the growing international education market where educators are encountering an increase in translated plagiarism from Internet-savvy students who are proficient in English. iParadigms. CrossRef announces CrossCheck plagiarism detection service. CrossRef announces an agreement with iParadigms launch the CrossCheck service to aid in verifying the originality of scholarly content. Following on the success of CrossRef’s recent pilot of CrossCheck, the service is scheduled to go live in June. CrossRef is partnering with iParadigms to offer its members — leading scholarly and professional publishers — the opportunity to verify the originality of works submitted for publication using the iThenticate service to check against a vast database of proprietary as well as open web content. Until now, there was no automated way to check submissions against previous publications because the published literature had not been indexed and “text fingerprinted” for this purpose. The CrossCheck database will include the full-text journals of leading academic publishers, and is expected to grow very rapidly over the coming months as CrossRef member publishers sign up for the service. iParadigms. Emerald partners with anti-plagiarism database in publishing industry first. Emerald is proud to announce its recent partnership with iParadigms, LLC, developers of the Turnitin plagiarism detection product for academic institutions and the iThenticate plagiarism detection product for content publishers. The Turnitin service has been expanded to include Emerald content since 25 September. This innovative move reinforces Emerald’s proactive stance on plagiarism, and ensures that Emerald content continues to maintain its high standard of integrity. Additionally, Emerald now has five iThenticate licenses to allow its editors to verify that articles submitted for publication are free from plagiarism and do not duplicate previously published work.
