Talis Aspire launches in Canada with the University of Alberta. The University of Alberta has adopted Talis Aspire, becoming the first university in Canada to do so, officially marking the availability of Talis Aspire in Canada. They have chosen to implement Talis Aspire with student experience in mind, to improve access to resources. Talis will be working closely with the University of Alberta to address their needs, and those of the wider Canadian market, whilst providing all of the benefits of the resource list solution used by over 100 institutions across the world. Research Libraries in North America Continue to Select Ex Libris Primo with the Primo Central Index. Ex Libris announced that the North American Primo community is continuing to expand rapidly, with the addition of numerous research institutions that have opted for locally hosted or cloud-based implementations of the Primo discovery and delivery solution. Academic institutions in North America that have recently selected Primo and the Primo Central Index include Boston University, Purdue University, Texas A&M University, Texas Woman’s University, Tulane University, University of Alberta, University of Kansas, University of Texas at Dallas, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Members of NEOS Library Consortium to implement WorldCat Local service. The University of Alberta, Red Deer College, Lakeland College and Concordia University College of Alberta are the first among NEOS member libraries to implement WorldCat Local, the OCLC service that delivers resources of local libraries and libraries around the world through a single search box. All members of NEOS, a cooperative library consortium that comprises 18 government, hospital, college and university libraries throughout central and northern Alberta, have been given the option to implement OCLC’s WorldCat Local service. The University of Alberta, Red Deer College, Lakeland College, and Concordia University College of Alberta will complete their implementations by March 31, 2010, with more NEOS member libraries to follow in the coming months. SIRSI Corporation. University of Alberta/NEOS and Edmonton Public Library select Sirsi. Two prominent libraries in Alberta, Canada, have announced their decision to upgrade to Sirsi''s Unicorn Library Management System from their existing DRA Classic systems. The University of Alberta Library, which also hosts the NEOS Library Consortium, and the Edmonton Public Library (EPL) are part of a collaborative project to make information resources easily accessible throughout Alberta.
