OCLC OCLC to supply new Swiss metadata hub with discovery tool. OCLC has agreed terms with SwissBib to implement, a "Library 2.0" meta-catalogue of Swiss university libraries and the Swiss National Library. This metadata hub will provide the platform for collating and publishing the combined collections of the involved libraries. The project will also utilise the latest in search technology to build a superior end user environment for those researching Swiss academic library collections. VTLS, Inc.. Swiss National Library's Helveticat goes live with Virtua ILS. The Swiss National Library went live with the Virtua production database, Helveticat. The database, which took a little over a week to install and convert, houses 3.5 million records and grows by about 55,000 titles each year. [Full Announcement].

VTLS, Inc.. Eighth National Library automates with VTLS software. VTLS Inc. announces that the Swiss National Library in Bern installed the VTLS integrated library automation software, which runs on a Hewlett-Packard 3000 Series 992/100 DX computer under the MPE/iX operating system and supports 80 microcomputers.
