University of Salford goes live with Ex Libris Alma. Ex Libris announced that the University of Salford in the United Kingdom has gone into production with the next-generation Alma library management solution. After improving its users’ discovery and delivery experience with the Ex Libris Primo discovery solution in 2011, the University of Salford has now replaced multiple systems, including its link resolver and its Capita (Talis) library management system (LMS), with Alma, which provides more effective management of library resources. Primo customer base in the UK and Ireland continues to grow. Ex Libris announced that the number of academic, national, and research libraries in the United Kingdom and Ireland that have selected the Primo discovery and delivery solution now exceeds 20. This major milestone was reached when University College London, Kingston University, and the University of Salford, decided to implement Primo to maximize the exposure of their collections to library users. The University of Salford is in the process of transforming the way that the identities of its entire user population are managed across all key systems in the organisation. Four more UK customers for SFX and MetaLib. Ex Libris and the Universities of Salford, Staffordshire, Strathclyde and the University of the West of England announced today that, following detailed market evaluations, the libraries of these institutions have decided to integrate Ex Libris'' SFX and MetaLib solutions with their existing library management systems by Talis, Dynix, Endeavor and Sirsi. The sites will also be integrating SFX and MetaLib with other services such as institutional portals and VLE software. [Full Announcement].
