Follett Follett School Solutions exits the book fair business. Follett School Solutions will be exiting the book fair business, a decision prompted by thousands offair cancellations due to the pandemic. NISO NISO voting members approve work on Recommended Practice for Retracted Research. The National Information Standards Organization announced that its proposed work item for a Communication of Retractions, Removals, and Expressions of Concern (CORREC) Recommended Practice has been approved by NISO Voting Members. Retracted research is published work that is withdrawn, removed, or otherwise invalidated from the scientific and scholarly record. Although relatively rare, retracted research—including unsupported or fabricated data, fundamental errors, and unreproducible results—can be inadvertently propagated within the digital scholarly record through citations. The CORREC Recommended Practice is intended to help address this problem, by clearly identifying parties involved in the retraction process, along with their responsibilities, actions, notifications, and the metadata necessary to communicate retracted research. Ex Libris Jackson State University Adopts Ex Libris campusM Mobile App and Portal to Enhance Communications. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, announced that Jackson State University has selected the Ex Libris campusM mobile app and web portal to replace the university's Ellucian system. campusM will help JSU deliver critical communications and keep students informed of campus news and events in a timely manner. Ex Libris Japan’s National Institute of Informatics Library goes live with Ex Libris Alma library services and Primo Discovery to improve efficiency in accessing academic resources with a centralized system. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, announced that the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and the Ex Libris Primo discovery solution have gone live at the National Institute of Informatics, in Japan. Mellon Foundation to support the development of a consensus framework for implementing controlled digital lending of book content by libraries, which has been approved by NISO members as a new initiative. Index Data PALCI and ConnectNY libraries now live on ReShare hosted by Index Data. Earlier this month, library patrons of both the PALCI consortium and ConnectNY started using ReShare Shared Inventory and ReShare Returnables to request the delivery of books between campuses. PALCI was the first consortium to go live and use these next-generation apps to expedite the movement of items between libraries—effectively broadening the base of knowledge available to these students, faculty, and staff. Coherent Digital Mindscape Commons wins the ALPSP 2021 Award for Innovation in Publishing. Mindscape Commons, the world's first and largest source of Virtual Reality (VR) and interactive video content for teaching and learning mental health, was named as winner of this year's ALPSP Award for Innovation in Publishing. David Sommer, Chair of the judging panel, revealed the winners at the close of the ALPSP Annual Conference and Awards which took place virtually today.
