ResearchGate and De Gruyter announce content partnership. ResearchGate, the professional network for researchers, and De Gruyter, an independent academic publisher disseminating excellent scholarship since 1749, have today announced a content syndication partnership that will see content from 437 of De Gruyter's journals added to ResearchGate. With approximately 114,000 articles being syndicated on launch, representing all open access content from De Gruyter's journal portfolio, the scale of the partnership is particularly noteworthy. DFG Launches Cooperation with the OAPEN Foundation. The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft concluded a service level agreement for the use of the OAPEN Library as a repository for DFG-funded open access books. From Spring 2023 onwards, the library will contain monographs and anthologies funded through the Open Access Publication Funding programme and produced in connection with DFG research funding. ByWater Solutions announces January 2023 Community Giveback winner. The January 2023 winner of the ByWater Community Giveback, the Lewiston City Library in Idaho. Each month, ByWater Solutions selects one library to be awarded $500. These funds are meant to support libraries and their communities and fill gaps in funding to further library goals. W3C re-launched as a public-interest non-profit organization. The World Wide Web Consortium began the year 2023 by forming a new public-interest non-profit organization. The new entity preserves our member-driven approach, existing worldwide outreach and cooperation while allowing for additional partners around the world beyond Europe and Asia. The new organization also preserves the core process and mission of the Consortium to shepherd the web, by developing open web standards as a single global organization with contributions from W3C Members, staff, and the international community. cOAlition S confirms the end of its financial support for Open Access publishing under transformative arrangements after 2024. Transformative arrangements – including Transformative Agreements and Transformative Journals – were developed to encourage subscription journals to transition to full and immediate open access within a defined timeframe. After careful consideration of the outcomes of transformative arrangements, the leadership of cOAlition S reaffirms that, as a principle, its members will no longer financially support these arrangements after 2024.
