ProQuest University of Waikato designs a new library system with ProQuest Intota. The University of Waikato joins the growing community of libraries around the world using Intota. The University of Waikato will immediately install Intota v1 which complements print-centric systems and plans to begin using Intota v2 upon its release. [Full Announcement].

ProQuest ProQuest to acquire Coutts Information Services and MyiLibrary from Ingram Content Group. ProQuest has signed an agreement to acquire Coutts Information Services from Ingram Content Group, adding Coutts’ renowned expertise in collection development, broad catalog of print and digital titles, and platforms MyiLibrary and OASIS to ProQuest’s vast selection of ebooks and innovative technology framework. The move paves the way to combine Coutts’ acquisitions strengths with ProQuest’s inventive digital tools to deliver a superior end-to-end workflow across print and electronic. Ingram will play a continuing role in print fulfillment in North America, supporting ProQuest with its extensive print inventory, fast on-demand print capabilities and delivery network. Summit Scholarship, which will award US$5,000 to a promising graduate student in library and information sciences. ProQuest APA makes hundreds of current ebooks available for individual purchase through ebrary. Libraries around the world can now acquire the essential Psychology and Behavioral and Social Sciences titles researchers need under flexible models that meet their budget requirements. The American Psychological Association, the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and the world’s largest association of psychologists, has joined forces with ProQuest ebook business ebrary to make more than 250 titles published since 2009 available electronically on the ebrary platform. For the first time, individual scholarly, professional, and reference titles, select APA LifeTools trade titles, and other ebooks will be available to libraries for individual purchase under Perpetual Archive (PA), Demand-driven Acquisition, and Short-term Loans models. Libraries can purchase APA titles including the APA Dictionary of Statistics and Research Methods and Medical Family Therapy and Integrated Care, Second Edition, directly through ebrary or global distribution partners including YBP and Coutts. Ex Libris Rollins College selects Ex Libris Alma and Primo. Ex Libris announced that Rollins College, a historic private liberal arts institution in Florida, has opted for the Ex Libris Alma unified resource management solution and the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution. Until now, Rollins has been running two library systems simultaneously, SirsiDynix Symphony and ProQuest Serials Solutions, as well as the ProQuest Summon discovery solution. ProQuest California Library Consortium evaluates usage of millions of monographs to create collaborative library collections. Libraries worldwide are transforming their spaces to better align with the changing needs of their communities. The Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC) has initiated a collection analysis project to gain insight on collection overlap and usage as a basis for establishing a sustainable shared collections program among its members. SCELC chose ProQuest Intota Assessment for comprehensive analysis of more than 4.5 million monographs across nine member libraries participating in the pilot project. [Full Announcement].

ProQuest Self-Publishing Continues to Grow in U.S., Says Bowker. new analysis of U.S. ISBN data by ProQuest affiliate Bowker reveals that the number of self-published titles in 2013 increased to more than 458,564, up 17 percent over 2012 and 437 percent over 2008. Print titles were up a very strong 29 percent over 2012, indicating the format’s continuing relevance to self-publishers. While self-publishing continues to grow, the pace appears to be normalizing after several explosive years. [Full Announcement].
