Taylor and Francis New open access agreement between the University of California and Taylor & Francis. The University of California and Taylor & Francis today announced a memorandum of understanding for a four-year read and publish agreement that will make it easier and more affordable for UC researchers to publish open access articles in nearly 2,500 Taylor & Francis journals. The new partnership between UC and one of the ten largest publishers of UC research advances a mutual goal to empower more authors to share their scholarship openly with readers around the globe. Under the agreement, the UC Libraries will automatically cover the OA fees in full for any UC corresponding author who chooses to publish OA in Taylor & Francis and Routledge journals. Authors of articles accepted for publication in a hybrid or full OA title will have the opportunity to choose OA at no cost to them. [Full Announcement].

SAGE SAGE Publishing and the University of California announce a transformative agreement to expand reach of UC research. SAGE Publishing and the University of California announce an agreement to expand open access publishing opportunities for researchers at all 10 UC campuses. Running through 2024, the agreement will provide funding for UC researchers to make their SAGE research articles free and openly available to the world. SAGE is one of the largest publishers of UC research in the social sciences and humanities. [Full Announcement].

Atlas Systems, Inc. The University of California San Francisco is now live with Aeon. The Archives and Special Collections at the University of California San Francisco Kalmanovitz Library is now live using Aeon to manage reader requests and staff workflows for their archives and manuscripts. Located on the Parnassus campus in San Francisco, California, the Kalmanovitz Library joins more than 100 institutions using Aeon in production. [Full Announcement].

Association of Research Libraries University of California, Santa Cruz to Become 126th Member of ARL. At its Fall 2021 Association Meeting held virtually September 28–October 6, the membership of the Association of Research Libraries voted to invite University of California, Santa Cruz Library to join ARL as the 126th member, effective January 1, 2022. Elizabeth Cowell, the Richard L. Press University Librarian and Presidential Chair, University Library, UC Santa Cruz, accepted the invitation. [Full Announcement].

University of California. UC secures landmark open access deal with world's largest scientific publisher. The University of California announced a pioneering open access agreement with the world's largest scientific publisher, Elsevier, making significantly more of the University's research available to people worldwide — immediately and at no cost. The deal will put more UC research into the hands of individuals across the globe at a time when international collaboration to fight COVID-19 has illuminated the value of open access to scientific findings. University of California. UC reaches groundbreaking open access deal with leading global publisher. The University of California announced a transformative open access publishing agreement that will make more of the University's research freely and immediately available to individuals and researchers across the globe. The deal furthers the global push for open access to scientific research by bringing together UC, which accounts for nearly 10 percent of all U.S. publishing output, and Springer Nature, the world's second-largest academic publisher. The agreement, which is the largest open access agreement in North America to date, and the first for Springer Nature in the U.S., signals increasing global momentum and support for the open access movement. As leaders in accelerating the pace of scientific discovery, UC and Springer Nature aim to get research into the hands of scholars and the public to help solve the world's most pressing problems, including those in the critically important fields of medicine and health care. Ex Libris University of California Libraries adopt Ex Libris Higher-Ed Cloud Platform to facilitate access to collections and systemwide collaboration. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, aannounced that the University of California Libraries have selected the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution to deploy a systemwide integrated library system. University of California. UC selects Ex Libris for Systemwide ILS. The University of California (UC) Libraries have selected the Ex Libris Alma and Primo services to deploy the Systemwide Integrated Library System (SILS). The Council of University Librarians (CoUL) made this decision following the SILS Request for Proposal and careful consideration of the libraries’ goals and requirements for a shared solution. We have reached this important project milestone thanks to the hard work and expertise of many; phase 3 involved over sixty project cohort members and extensive, systemwide consultation and review. TIND UC Berkeley selects TIND Digital Archive. The University of California, Berkeley has selected the TIND Digital Archive (TIND DA) to manage its extensive digital collections. TIND DA will allow UC Berkeley to migrate the many existing digital collections from various sources and systems, as well as providing workflows for contributing newly digitized and converted material into one central location. TIND UC Berkeley Law goes live on TIND ILS. TIND was selected by the University of California, Berkeley Law Library to provide their cloud-based Integrated Library System (TIND ILS), replacing Sierra ILS. As part of the implementation, TIND has developed a new acquisitions and serials module in close partnership with the library. The system is launched with GOBI real-time acquisitions and supports payment export to UC Berkeley’s central ERP system. The TIND ILS will also be integrated with EBSCO Discovery Service. University of California. University of California Libraries receive grant to support Phase 2 of the Western Regional Storage Trust. The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded the University of California Libraries a three-year grant to continue development of the Western Regional Storage Trust (WEST), a distributed shared print repository program for retrospective journal archives. More than one hundred libraries participate in the Trust, including libraries from the University of California system, Stanford University, Arizona State University, the University of Washington, and other members of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA), and the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC). Under the second phase of the WEST program, participating libraries will continue to consolidate print journal backfiles at major library storage facilities and at selected campus locations. Kuali Foundation. Kuali Coeus proposal development goes live at University of California, Irvine. University of California, Irvine has gone live and is now operating in the production environment of Kuali Coeus. This is the first of two phases of Proposal Development implementation at UCI, that includes the Proposal Data and Institutional Proposal, replacing UCI’s paper-based proposal routing. OCLC 28 more libraries join the OCLC WorldShare Management Services community. Since July 1, 2011, 28 libraries have selected OCLC WorldShare Management Services, the first truly cooperative, Webscale management services for libraries that streamline cataloging, acquisitions, circulation, license management and workflows, and offer a next-gen discovery tool for library users. This brings the number of libraries worldwide committed to using OCLC WorldShare Management Services to 171. [Full Announcement].
