Newport News Public Library recently joined The Library Corporation family by implementing Library.Solution integrated library system software. Located in Newport News, VA, this 5-location library system has a mission to “connect, inspire, enrich and empower,” which they have continued to do in the middle of a global pandemic. Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Eighteen Sierra Systems Go Live in Four-Week Period. Innovative announced that 18 Sierra Library Services Platform systems representing 19 libraries have gone live in the most recent four-week period. These libraries in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America include those upgrading from Innovative's Millennium ILS, as well as migrating from Horizon, Koha, and Symphony systems. Bibliotheca Newport News Public Library System invests in RFID technology. Bibliotheca announced that it will be working with Newport News Public Library System in Virginia after being appointed to undertake a three-year installation project, fully equipping the System’s libraries with RFID technology and Automated Materials Handling solutions. Integrated Technology Group. Flexible ITG RFID Technology Allows Warren-Newport Public Library to Adapt to Changing Conditions. As an early adopter of RFID, the Warren-Newport Public Library (IL) could have found itself in the same boat as others who implemented the technology before any library RFID standards were established. The majority of libraries that migrated to RFID in or before 2003, the year that Warren-Newport made its move, came to learn that their proprietary systems could not be adapted to the ISO technology standard. And if a transition path were available, it would require expensive new hardware, retagging the collection, or both. On the other hand, Warren-Newport, like other libraries that chose ITG as their RFID vendor, was able to seamlessly transition from its original proprietary system to an ISO based system and it didn’t cost them a dime. These libraries now provide deep article integration that brings real-time, full-text articles into Encore Synergy's single-search discovery environment. With Encore Synergy, users discover live, full-text articles and abstract previews in every results set, along with library materials such as books/ebooks, digital collections, programs, and more. Innovative announced today that five public libraries have recently selected the Millennium ILS along with other Innovative products, including the Warren-Newport Public Library District, Finkelstein Memorial Library, South Plainfield Public Library, Rapid City Public Library, and the Sterling Municipal Library. Infor Library and Information Solutions City of Newport in Wales Selects V-smart. Infor announced that the City of Newport in Wales has selected V-smart, Infor's web-based integrated library system, following a thorough evaluation of the library system marketplace. Newport, the third largest city in Wales, will implement V-smart, as well as Infor's V-insight statistical analysis portal, to replace its Genesis library management system. [Full Announcement].
