Michigan State University Libraries and Taylor & Francis announce new open access partnership. Supporting Michigan State University Libraries' mission to promote equal access to information for all, a new transformative agreement will allow MSU researchers to publish open access (OA) articles at no cost to them in 2,500 Taylor & Francis and Routledge journals. The three-year read-and-publish agreement ensures faculty and students have continued read-access to all Taylor & Francis journals while also supporting hundreds of researchers to choose open access in both hybrid and full OA titles. Michigan State University begins transition to the FOLIO library services platform. Michigan State University will be transitioning to the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP) and plans to fully implement FOLIO in 2021. Michigan State will be utilizing EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) for EBSCO FOLIO implementation and hosting services and will also leverage EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) and OpenAthens. EBSCO FOLIO Services consist of a highly-trained, experienced team to assist with efficient and well-planned implementations and seamless service support, as well as sophisticated technology and trained engineers for hosting. Testimonies from genocide survivors enrich research and learning at MSU. Michigan State University is one of a growing number of institutions using video testimonies from genocide survivors to inspire learning and new research insights across multiple academic disciplines. The University is providing its students, faculty and researchers with access to University of Southern California Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive, the world’s largest collection of eyewitness accounts from genocide witnesses and survivors, available through ProQuest. MSU Libraries implement Summon discovery tool. The Michigan State University Libraries have selected the Summon discovery service from ProQuest for implementation at the nation’s pioneer land-grant university. The service launched at the beginning of this month with a number of activities planned to educate students and faculty about this new tool. [Full Announcement].

Early agreements for the Sierra services platform announced. Innovative announced that 25 leading academic and public libraries have entered into agreements to be partners in or early implementers of the company's Sierra development initiative. Included in the group are collaborating institutions such as Central Arkansas Library System (AR), Council Bluffs Public Library (IA), Gardner-Webb University (NC), The George Washington University Law School (DC), Greene County Public Library (OH), Grinnell College (IA), Hillsdale College (MI), Hope College (MI), Indianhead Federated Library System (WI), Jefferson County Public Library (CO), Lafayette College (PA), London Public Library (Canada), Marquette University (WI), Mentor Public Library (OH), Michigan State University (MI), Middle Country Public Library (NY), Texas Southern University Law (TX), University of Nebraska-Lincoln (NE), University of Notre Dame Law School (IN), Wright State University (OH), and Lillian Goldman Law Library at Yale Law School (CT). Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) selects Relais D2D. The Committee on Institutional Cooperation libraries have agreed to proceed with a pilot of Relais D2D. The pilot will include: University of Chicago; University of Iowa; University of Michigan; Michigan State University; Northwestern University; and Pennsylvania State University. Relais D2D (Discovery to Delivery) is a next-generation software platform for consortial borrowing from Relais International. The CIC libraries will implement Relais D2D over the summer with the goal of being live by the fall semester 2011.The CIC is the nation's premier higher education consortium of top-tier research institutions, including the Big Ten Conference members and the University of Chicago. Eight Academic Libraries Partner with Innovative for Encore Reporter Development. Innovative announced that the development of Encore Reporter, the product that brings the power and ease of Encore Discovery to library-business information, now benefits from the participation of a group of academic libraries that has grown to eight. These libraries are focusing on further developing the features of Encore Reporter that provide collection- and cost-analysis reports to library staff. The academic libraries partnering with Innovative are American University of Law (DC); Ballarat University (Australia); Michigan State University; Stetson School of Law (FL); University of Cadiz (Spain); University of Nebraska, Lincoln; University of Sydney (Australia); University of Wollongong (Australia). Two Academic Libraries Announce SkyRiver Implementations. Two well-established academic libraries, Michigan State University and California State University, Long Beach are the first libraries to publicly announce that they are fully operational using SkyRiver as their exclusive cataloging service. Both libraries are looking to SkyRiver to substantially reduce the costs associated with cataloging. Michigan State University is SkyRiver's first ARL development partner. [Full Announcement].

Twelve Libraries Launch Encore 3.0. Innovative announced that twelve libraries have "gone live" with Encore Release 3.0: Augsburg College (MN); Binghamton University [SUNY] (NY); Greene County Public Library (OH); London Public Library (Canada); University of Hong Kong; University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Westerville Public Library (OH); Yale Law School (CT); Michigan State University; Eastern Kentucky University; Scottsdale Public Library (AZ); and University of Western Ontario (Canada). Key enhancements include improved discovery features, Community Reviews and Patron Ratings, personalization features, as well as new option for the Encore "look and feel." In addition, Encore Discovery is now available for central catalogs of INN-Reach direct consortial borrowing systems. [Full Announcement].

Encore launches at twelve public and academic libraries, selected by seventy. Innovative announced the launch of its Encore discovery services platform at a dozen public and academic libraries around the world. In addition, the company announced that 70 libraries have selected the next-generation product. The deployment of Encore brings a full-featured discovery tool to users—uniting library collections, licensed-resource content, and the discovery process. To date, Encore has been selected by more libraries combined than any other next-generation library interface to both print and e-resources. Libraries are using Encore as a discovery platform compatible with leading ILS systems including Innovative's Millennium, Ex Libris Voyager, and Ex Libris Aleph, as well as deploying Encore with Innovative's federated search product, Research Pro, and other leading federated search tools. Thirteen Libraries join Innovative for Encore development. Innovative announced that thirteen leading academic and public libraries have entered into agreements to be partners in the company's Encore development initiative. The collaborating institutions are Binghamton University, Deakin University, Deschutes Public Library, Georgetown University, Michigan State University, Nashville Public Library, Scottsdale Public Library System, Springfield-Greene County Library, the Tri-College Library Consortium, University of Glasgow, the University of Queensland Library, Westerville Public Library, and Yale University's Lillian Goldman Law Library. The Encore discovery services platform transforms the user experience of the library with expanded search functionality, community features, and a rich presentation that includes federated-search results and contextual resource suggestions. RightResult goes live at Michigan State University. Innovative Interfaces announced that Michigan State University Libraries have introduced RightResult search technology into the online catalog as part of their WebPAC Pro implementation. Searches using RightResult return a grouped result set based on an advanced relevance-ranking algorithm developed by Innovative. The outcome is that patrons are most likely to find what they need more quickly and at the top of the results display [Full Announcement].

Innovative launches partnership with Michigan State University Libraries for Google Scholar integration. Innovative Interfaces announced that it has entered a development partnership with Michigan State University Libraries to allow enhanced access to their subscription resources through Google Scholar. Innovative develops WebCrawler: Michigan State University part of joint project to extract XML EAD metadata. Innovative Interfaces, Inc., announced the development of an XML WebCrawler in partnership with Michigan State University. The WebCrawler will give MSU the ability to dynamically catalog XML records into their Millennium system. [Full Announcement].
