Overdrive Library District Unveils Free Online Digital Book Service. This week the Maricopa County Library District announced their latest service, a virtual library offering library customers 24/7 access to an online collection of hundreds of downloadable digital Audiobooks and eBooks. With the new service, customers can now logon, check out, and download a digital book anytime of day. The digital books can be enjoyed on customer's own computer or transferred to a portable device like a PDA, Smartphone, or a portable audio device. Library customers can also burn audio books to a standard CD, making it easy to enjoy them in the comfort of their air-conditioned living room, cars, or anywhere they like. Polaris Library Systems. GIS and Active Government Solutions offer libraries integrated cash management capabilities. GIS Information Systems and Active Government Solutions, a division of The Active Network, Inc, and provider of cashiering and payment management software solutions for municipalities, have partnered to deliver integrated cash management capabilities to libraries. Maricopa County Library District in Phoenix, Arizona, will be the first to implement the companiesí solution, delivered through the GIS Polaris integrated library system. [Full Announcement].

Polaris Library Systems. GIS Polaris sales outpacing 2002 by wide margin. GIS Information Systems is realizing record sales of its Polaris integrated library system with more than twice as many systems sold from June through November 2003 as were sold during the same time period in 2002.
