Urban Libraries Council Las Vegas-Clark County Library District receives top honors from two industry groups for groundbreaking cell phone lending program. The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District has been recognized by two national library trade industry groups for its innovative Cell Phone Lending Program, which bridged social technology gaps by aiding more than 400 low-income residents and those unhoused with wireless communication and internet services. The Library District has been selected to receive the 2023 Library of the Future Award from American Library Association/Information Today, Inc. This annual award recognizes innovative planning, application, or development of library customer support around information technology in libraries. The award is given annually to an individual library or library consortium, group, or support organization, and this is the second consecutive year that the Library District has won the award – a first in the award's history. Las Vegas Clark-County Library District. Las Vegas-Clark County Library District launches barrier-busting cell phone lending initiative. The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is taking another significant step toward bridging the digital divide with a new technology initiative. Thanks to a grant from the Institute of Museum & Library Services and the Nevada State Library, Nevada Homeless Alliance and Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, are partnering with the Library District's groundbreaking Cell Phone Lending Program, which provides smart phones to low-income residents, and those experiencing homelessness. Each phone comes pre-loaded with Library District apps that provide life-enriching and educational resources as well as critical social and community services. [Full Announcement].

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District has been selected to receive the 2022 ALA/Information Today, Inc. Library of the Future Award. The award, sponsored by the American Library Association and Information Today annually recognizes innovative planning, application, or development of focused patron support relating to information technology in libraries and is given to an individual library or library consortium, group, or support organization.
