Zepheira. Libhub Initiative celebrates founding 12 library partners at Early Adopter Summit. Zepheira is convening the Libhub Initiative’s Early Adopter Summit today at Denver Public Library in Denver, Colorado, to celebrate the vision, commitment and contributions of 12 pioneering libraries from the US and Canada. These 12 institutions have completed training in the details of BIBFRAME, Linked Data, and a host of concrete steps libraries can take to establish greater visibility on the Web. VTLS, Inc.. Hamilton Public Library's Virtua ILS from VTLS goes live. Hamilton Public Library has completed implementation of its new Virtua Integrated Library System (ILS). The new system went live on November 18, a day earlier than expected, concluding the 9-month implementation. HPL selected Virtua earlier this year to meet the needs of its multiple branches with extensive collections and frequent patron activity. The implementation included migration of HPL’s data from its former SirsiDynix Horizon system, including circulation data (circulation status, patron blocks, requests, active and historical fines and housebound data) and open orders. VTLS also provided 13 functional and workflow enhancements, including improved interfacing with the Smart Money Manager by Comprise Technologies. [Full Announcement].

mk Sorting Systems. Circulation Up by 2M as Hamilton Public Library increases automation. The Hamilton Public Library’s Central Library is the fifth location to install mk Sorting Systems products. An 11-bin sorting system with conveyors leading into the lower level of the library increases circulation and improves service by freeing staff from basic repetitive tasks. Integrated Technology Group. Hamilton Public Library Becomes the First Major Canadian Library System to Install ITG RFID Technology Solutions. Integrated Technology Group, a division of Vernon Library Supplies, Inc., has expanded its client base to include its first major Canadian library system—the Hamilton Public Library in Ontario. By the end of 2009, Hamilton Public Library is scheduled to install a mix of RFID technology applications in 19 of its 23 branches, as well as in the technical services department. The installations will include ITG’s Apex XpressCheck patron self-service kiosks and Apex FlexCheck staff stations. [Full Announcement].
