bepress. bepress and SSRN announce integration pilot with Columbia and University of Georgia Law Schools. Bepress and SSRN are pleased to announce a joint pilot to explore integration between their two platforms. The four-month pilot launches today with the participation of Columbia Law School’s Arthur W. Diamond Law Library and University of Georgia School of Law’s Library. Both bepress and SSRN are eager to explore potential solutions to the obstacles that professional schools and their libraries face in promoting their open access scholarship. The initial pilot offers one possible model for demonstrating the increased reach of legal scholarship when work is available through an open access repository as well as a specialized network of peers, by simplifying population of and aggregating research impact from both platforms. Through the service, bepress customers can now receive a real-time archive of all their content on Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service), an industry-standard platform that provides 99.999999999% file durability, performs checksums for data integrity checks, and uses redundant data to repair any corrupted files it finds. bepress. De Gruyter acquires 67 journals from Berkeley Electronic Press. The academic publisher De Gruyter and The Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress) today announced that they have reached an agreement for De Gruyter to acquire bepress’s journal portfolio. The agreement covers a total of 67 journals in the areas of Law, Business/Economics, Humanities, and Natural Sciences. [Full Announcement].

bepress. Announcing New Preservation Program for Digital Law Reviews. Legal Information Preservation Alliance and Berkeley Electronic Press announced that they have partnered to create the Law Review Preservation Program: the first comprehensive long-term archiving solution for law reviews published online. With funding and support from LIPA, law reviews published on bepress's Digital Commons platform can be automatically archived in CLOCKSS, an international dark archive for long-term preservation. bepress. Berkeley Electronic Press names new Publisher. The Berkeley Electronic Press announced the appointment of a new Publisher, Alison Denby. Alison will be responsible for the bepress journals publishing program, which includes 42 owned and scholarly society journals. She will report to the CEO of bepress, Gordon Tibbitts, and will be based at bepress headquarters in California. [Full Announcement].

bepress. bepress to market and support its Institutional Repository platform. The Berkeley Electronic Press announced that it would begin selling its Institutional Repository platform directly. The bepress Institutional Repository platform currently powers the eScholarship Repository of the University of California system as well as over 50 schools under the name of Digital Commons sold by ProQuest Information and Learning. bepress. bepress licenses its complete electronic collection, ResearchNow Full Access, to all German Libraries. The Berkeley Electronic Press announced that ResearchNow Full Access, its collection of 36 peer-reviewed electronic journals and "grey literature" from a variety of scholarly sources, has been selected by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft for a nationwide license. The bepress collection was selected at the initiative of the German National Library of Economics, and will contribute to the DFG's efforts to make premier-quality digital publications available to all German libraries and German citizens. Blackboard and The Berkeley Electronic Press announced the launch of the ResearchNow Blackboard Building Block, a new tool that integrates with the Blackboard Learning System, enabling online access to tens of thousands of scholarly materials. The ResearchNow Content Building Block makes it possible for educators to search directly in Blackboard for access to more than 85,000 journal articles, working papers, institutional repository materials, theses and dissertations hosted within ResearchNow, The Berkeley Electronic Press's innovative database of scholarly information. The Berkeley Electronic Press announced that the eScholarship Repository, a University of California's digital collection powered by Berkeley Electronic Press technology, has reached a major milestone. The Repository, which houses a variety of scholarly materials produced under the auspices of University of California research units, centers, and departments, has logged its 1,000,000th full-text download. The Berkeley Electronic Press is pleased to announce the implementation of its EdiKit online submission and editorial management system by the American Finance Association and its flagship publication, the Journal of Finance. Beginning June 1, all submissions to the premier journal in the field of finance, as well as the review and adjudication of these submissions, will be handled electronically using Berkeley Electronic Press tools.
