ProQuest Cambridge University Library Launches WebFeat system capable of searching more than 300 of the library's databases. Cambridge University Library has launched the WebFeat federated search service to improve access to the University's vast collection of electronic resources. WebFeat enables Cambridge University Library users to now simultaneously search across more than 300 subscription databases and multiple catalogues from a single intuitive interface. Thanks to WebFeat's WebFeat Administration Console and its translator library of over 9,000 resources, the Cambridge University Library's customized WebFeat implementation was launched in less than 90 days. After a soft launch to the more than 400 librarians at the University, the system will be available for all staff and students in May. [Full Announcement].

WebFeat. WebFeat partners with Quova to offer geolocation Authentication for the industry’s leading federated search solution. WebFeat announced that it partnered with Quova, Inc. to provide geolocation authentication for WebFeat’s industry leading federated search solutions. Libraries integrating the Quova technology with their WebFeat federated search systems can now provide instant access to subscription content without prompting patrons for authentication or library card barcodes. WebFeat. WebFeat Granted Chinese Patent. WebFeat has been granted Chinese patent 01811840.2 for its Method and System for Retrieving Search Results from Multiple Disparate Databases.” The patent marks the fourth patent to-date for WebFeat for its authentication and session management technology. WebFeat also holds U.S. patent 6,807,539, German patent DE20121706U, and Australian patent WO0182117. [Full Announcement].

WebFeat. WebFeat posts record Year in 2007. WebFeat announced that it had posted another record year in 2007, its 10th year of consecutive growth, increasing revenues by 55 percent. Database searches jumped by nearly 200 percent in the period, growing from 88 million searches in 2006 to over 170 million. The company added 330 new client systems during the period, in-turn providing WebFeat federated search access for over 3,500 more libraries. Webfeat. WebFeat Surpasses 120 million database searches in 2007. WebFeat announced that it has surpassed 120 million database searches this year for its clients – a new record. The company reported that it was on track to break the 150 million database search mark by year-end. Rapid growth in WebFeat's market share has resulted in a 50% increase in the number of customer database searches executed in 2007 as compared with 2006. WebFeat presently serves 15,600 libraries worldwide through a combination of 18 statewide networks, 8 partners, and hundreds of independent library systems. Webfeat. WebFeat Express now supports Athens authentication. WebFeat announced that automated support for Athens Authentication has been added to its WebFeat Express product. Athens joins other remote user authentication schemes already supported with WebFeat Express, including: all major ILS system RPAs, EZ Proxy, Shibboleth, username/password, IP range and referring URL. Library administrators can easily configure remote authentication in minutes using the automated handshake feature found in the WebFeat Administration Console. [Full Announcement].

Webfeat. WebFeat system for cross–database searching launched at The New York Public Library. The New York Public Library is launching a custom-designed federated search solution powered by WebFeat. The WebFeat system enables NYPL patrons to simultaneously search nearly 400 licensed electronic resources, the NYPL website, and LEO and CATNYP—the two New York Public Library online catalogs. WebFeat also enables federated searching of the NYPL Digital Gallery—a repository of over 550,000 images from the Library's research collections and The New York Public Library's Picture Collection Online—a collection of 30,000 digitized public domain images from books, magazines and newspapers as well as original photographs, prints and postcards, most created prior to 1923. Webfeat. Pennsylvania selects WebFeat as its statewide federated search solution. The Office of Commonwealth Libraries in Pennsylvania, together with HSLC/Access Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Online World of Electronic Resources, has selected WebFeat as its statewide federated search provider. Access Pennsylvania and the POWER Library facilitate resource sharing among more than 2,900 academic, public and special libraries throughout the Commonwealth. The WebFeat Enterprise Edition solution offered by WebFeat will provide Access Pennsylvania and POWER Library participating libraries, along with all authenticated Pennsylvania residents, a way to search any or all POWER Library Databases, external resources databases, the Access Pennsylvania Database, the Access Pennsylvania Digital Repository, and selected free web resources simultaneously and with a single intuitive interface. In addition, the product integrates WebFeat's SMART Usage Tracker, which will track and report database usage across the network and by individual library. [Full Announcement].

Webfeat. Keystone Library Network implementing WebFeat Enterprise Edition federated search solution. The Keystone Library Network is implementing a WebFeat Enterprise Edition federated search solution. For 17 participating libraries, including 14 Pennsylvania State System universities, the WebFeat Enterprise Edition solution enables users at each library to simultaneously search a group of shared resources provided by KLN in addition to simultaneously searching the individual library's locally subscribed resources. 10 of the KLN libraries' WebFeat systems will be able to simultaneously search in excess of 100 resources each –either from within the library or remotely. Webfeat. University of Oklahoma Libraries Launches Customized WebFeat System. The University of Oklahoma Libraries became the latest Association of Research Libraries institution to launch a WebFeat federated search system. The University is the first academic library to make extensive use of the WebFeat API to customize their system. Library patrons may now search the Library's vast holdings and many research databases simultaneously with a single intuitive interface. Webfeat. SUNY New Paltz upgrades federated search service with WebFeat Express. The Sojourner Truth Library at the State University of New York New Paltz has upgraded its previous federated search solution (Metalib) with a WebFeat Express federated search system. Webfeat. Santa Rosa County Library System launches WebFeat Express Search Prism. The Santa Rosa County Library System in Florida has launched a WebFeat Express federated search solution. With WebFeat Express, Library patrons can now simultaneously search more than 40 electronic resources—including the Library catalog, several Florida-specific resources and thousands of newspapers, magazines and journals representing millions of pages of content.
