Ubiquity Press ]u[ Ubiquity publish case study on LIRA@BCLaw's migration to ]u[ Ubiquity Repositories. ]u[ Ubiquity has published a case study on the transfer of LIRA@BCLaw, the Legal Institutional Repository and Archives at Boston College Law School, from the Digital Commons platform to ]u[ Ubiquity Repositories, and the simultaneous transfer of the journal Boston College Law Review (BCLR) to the ]u[ Ubiquity platform as a hosted journal. Ubiquity Press ]u[ Ubiquity platforms move to Plausible for monitoring site usage. ]u[ Ubiquity will no longer support Google Analytics to monitor site usage for its journal, book, and repository platforms, and instead will be using the open-source provider Plausible. The upcoming replacement of Google's legacy Universal Analytics service with its new Google Analytics 4 provided an opportunity for ]u[ Ubiquity to evaluate whether the Google service is suitable for its customers and aligned with ]u[ Ubiquity's core values. Concerns around storing, selling, and sharing users' data to advertisers as well as incompatibility with compliance regarding users' privacy rights initiated a thorough assessment of the Google Analytics service within ]u[ Ubiquity. As part of this analysis the availability of code and algorithm, speed and performance of the websites as well as data reliability and integration were also considered. Alternative providers were rigorously examined and Plausible was the winning provider. A main driving factor for finding an alternative to GA was that a number of European countries have judged that Google's service is not GDPR compliant, with legislation from other regions also introducing similar restrictions. Ubiquity Press ]u[ Ubiquity launch four new repositories. ]u[ Ubiquity announced the official launch of four new ]u[ Ubiquity Repositories; The Paul Smith's College Libraries Institutional Repository, Hobart and William Smith Repository for Institutional Scholarship Exploration, The Nazareth University Repository, and Le Moyne College's Research Repository. LIBRARY-LED PUBLISHING offers a unique opportunity for institutions to increase the visibility of their research output, both by providing traditional publishing services and by offering other professional publishing services that are especially suited to an ever-evolving digital information space. However, setting up and maintaining such an operation can be a significant burden for a library to bear alone. In this case study Peter Potter, director of Virginia Tech Publishing, describes how he believes that library publishing can meet these challenges with support from professional publishing services. Ubiquity Press University of North Alabama Upgrades Its Institutional Repository with Ubiquity Repositories. The end of 2021 saw the launch of University of North Alabama's Repository of Open Access Research (RoOAR) powered by Ubiquity Repositories. After testing various software and repository providers, UNA chose the Ubiquity Repositories platform, which largely outperformed all its competitors. [Full Announcement].
