UNSILO. Manuscript Manager integrates UNSILO AI tools to reduce manuscript submission delays. UNSILO, a brand of the global scientific communications company Cactus Communications, announced the integration of its Technical Checks and Reviewer Finder APIs by Manuscript Manager, the Copenhagen-based software company that provides submission workflow tools for publishers and scholarly societies, managing over 230 academic journals. The Technical Checks API, part of the UNSILO Evaluate suite, uses machine-learning tools to provide information in real time from scientific research manuscripts, such as identifying evidence of funding statements and potential conflicts of interest. UNSILO. Cactus Communications announces acquisition of UNSILO, a Denmark-based technology solutions company. Cactus Communications, a global scientific communications company, announced that it has acquired UNSILO, a Denmark-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) company that specializes in text analytics, linguistics, and data science. UNSILO, co-founded by Mads Rydahl and Thomas Laursen, provides AI tools and solutions for publishers to grow their business and improve customer experience through products such as Classify which helps publishers package and sell content in new ways, Recommend which supports the discovery of new and existing research, and Evaluate which helps scale up the capacity of the journal editorial office. It has partnered with leaders in the STM industry like BMJ, Wiley, Clarivate Analytics, and Taylor & Francis to develop solutions for the publishing ecosystem. [Full Announcement].

UNSILO. PeerJ integrates the UNSILO Reviewer Finder API to optimize peer review workflows. UNSILO is pleased to announce the adoption of its Reviewer Finder API by PeerJ, the award-winning biological, medical and environmental sciences journal. The Reviewer Finder API, part of the UNSILO Evaluate suite, will support the task of matching manuscripts with reviewers, and will be integrated with PeerJ’s manuscript tracking and peer review suite. UNSILO. UNSILO AI in Academic Publishing Survey released. UNSILO has released the results of a survey on AI usage in academic publishing. How is it used? What factors impede its adoption? More than 3,000 new academic journal articles are published every day, and yet many of the tools for processing content through the academic workflow are frequently very manually based. The UNSILO survey, with publishers and other stakeholders in the scholarly workflow, was done between June and September 2019. The results were presented at a panel session at the Frankfurt Book Fair, chaired by Toby Green, former head of publishing at OECD. [Full Announcement].

UNSILO. OECD confirms deal to use AI-based UNSILO Classify for Sustainable Development Goals collections. UNSILO and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) this week confirmed a multi-year partnership using UNSILO AI tools. The partnership, which was successfully trialled last year, is to improve content discovery and collection-building of thousands of reports, papers and data available on the OECD’s iLibrary publishing platform, using UNSILO’s artificial intelligence technology.
