Spokane (Washington) Public Library Adopts the FOLIO Platform. Spokane (Washington) Public Library became the first public library in North America to use the FOLIO Library Services Platform. The library uses Index Data to host and support the open source platform for its six branches and community of 210,000 residents. Averaging over two million circulations per year, it is among the largest installations of FOLIO to date. [Full Announcement].

FOLIO Library Services Platform Launches Kiwi Release. The FOLIO Open Source Community has issued its latest named release as the platform continues to add features and functionality to the library services platform (LSP). The Kiwi Release includes platform updates and integration improvements in addition to user experience (UX) improvements and features. The Kiwi Release offers platform enhancements that provide librarians with a more efficient user experience in the FOLIO platform. These enhancements include updates made to cataloging where libraries can now manage MARC holdings in FOLIO. Improvements to acquisitions provide the LSP with even more flexibility when creating new orders via GOBI®. The Kiwi Release also made improvements to circulation by providing improved logging related to patron notice processing as to capture all errors and add them to circulation log. Jorge Tadeo Lozano University to adopt the FOLIO LSP. Jorge Tadeo Lozano University (UTadeo) has become the first library in Colombia to choose FOLIO as its Library Services Platform (LSP). The university will use EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) for implementation and hosting services via EBSCO FOLIO. Chile’s University of Concepcion now live with the FOLIO Library Services Platform. University of Concepcion has become the first library in Chile and Latin America to fully adopt the FOLIO Library Services Platform. UdeC utilized EBSCO FOLIO from EBSCO Information Services for their implementation services and will continue to use EBSCO FOLIO for hosting services. This is the first FOLIO implementation in Latin America and will serve as an example for libraries in the region looking to switch to an open-source LSP. [Full Announcement].

The FOLIO Community names new picks for Product Council and Technical Council. The results are in for the FOLIO Product Council and the Technical Council. Eleven community members were named to each council and will serve two-year terms. The makeup of the councils represents institutions around the world, library service providers and developers involved in the FOLIO community. The Product Council is charged with guiding the functional development and managing the scope of the platform. The Technical Council will be responsible for maintaining technical policies and best practices as well as the platform infrastructure and operational stability. [Full Announcement].

Okanagan College to become the first Canadian institution to fully adopt the FOLIO library services platform. Okanagan College will be the first institution in Canada to fully transition to the FOLIO Library Services Platform using EBSCO FOLIO hosting and implementation services from EBSCO Information Services. Chile’s University of Concepcion’s FOLIO Library Services Platform Migration is underway. University of Concepcion is the first library in Chile to choose FOLIO as its Library Services Platform and will use EBSCO Information Services for implementation and hosting services. FOLIO Project members have elected their first Community Council. The results are in. The FOLIO project has held project-wide elections for the first time to initiate FOLIO's new Community Council. The Community Council's role is to foster a healthy and productive community ecosystem of sustainable collaboration for the FOLIO project. Among the responsibilities of the Community Council are to ensure a strong community by onboarding new members to the FOLIO project and making sure that the community is collaborative and inclusive. Saint Vincent College goes live on FOLIO with ByWater Solutions Support. ByWater Solutions, America's forefront provider of Open Source library technology support, announced that Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania is now live on FOLIO. ByWater completed the transition of the library's 195,000 plus records from Millennium this winter and is providing ongoing support services to the library. As part of their partnership with ByWater, EBSCO Information Services will be providing hosting services along with complimentary products to ensure a complete and well managed FOLIO instance.
