Elsevier Elsevier and Council of Australian University Librarians sign agreement to support transition to open access publishing alongside continued research access for Australia and New Zealand researchers. Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, announced that it has signed an agreement with the Council of Australian University Librarians, the negotiating body representing universities in Australia and New Zealand, to provide immediate open access to ANZ research for the world and continued access to global research for ANZ readers. Elsevier Elsevier launches global collaboration to understand the impact of the pandemic on confidence in scientific research. Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, announced the launch of a global collaboration that will include new, independent research led by Economist Impact. The initiative aims to assess the drivers of confidence in research, examine how researchers have experienced the increased public attention on science during the pandemic, and the implications this has had on the academic research community. It is also looking at changes in the ways in which researchers communicate their findings. A main focus of the initiative will be a landmark global survey conducted by Economist Impact, experts in helping to identify critical and actionable insights of 3,000 researchers across Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Elsevier Oable incorporates all of Elsevier's Journals. Elsevier is establishing a pilot with Oable, the open access workflow management solution developed by Knowledge Unlatched, to simplify the librarian approval workflow for open access publishing. Oable supports libraries in managing their OA activities across publishers, including different types of commercial agreements and products. The new partnership will be piloted with select institutions with the aim of streamlining transactions and reducing the administrative burden on librarians and university officials. This means librarians for the institutions participating in the pilot will be able to manage their OA agreements and arrangements for all Elsevier journals through the Oable platform. Elsevier Slovenian Consortium and Elsevier establish transformative agreement. Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, has established its first transformative agreement with Slovenian ScienceDirect Consortium of universities, institutes and hospitals (Slovenian Consortium). The agreement will benefit the member institutions with access to Elsevier's extensive collection of journals on ScienceDirect, and enable their affiliated authors to publish their research open access in Elsevier journals. Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, and part of RELX, announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Interfolio, a provider of advanced faculty information solutions for higher education, headquartered in Washington DC, US. Founded in 1999, Interfolio supports over 400 higher education institutions, research funders and academic organizations in 25 countries, and over 1.7 million academic professionals and scholars. Elsevier Ennov acquires MACRO from Elsevier to reinforce its leadership position in the EDC field. Ennov, the provider of the only unified compliance platform for Life Sciences, a highly configurable software architecture that provides a consistent user experience and eliminates data silos, announced the acquisition of MACRO, a world-class and trusted trial resource provider of advanced Electronic Data Capture software for clinical research from Elsevier. Elsevier Cassyni and Elsevier partner to launch next-generation seminar series for journals. Cassyni, the virtual and hybrid academic seminar platform, has partnered with the publisher Elsevier to launch seminar series across their portfolio of physics journals. Seminars will be associated with recent journal papers, selected by editors as being particularly innovative and impactful. Elsevier NERL and Elsevier continue agreement and develop open access pilot. NERL, a consortium representing some of America's leading research institutions, and Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, have established a new three-year agreement. The deal provides 13 of the NERL member institutions with ScienceDirect access and pilots retroactive open access for participating institutions' authors. In 2021, a project team of NERL and Elsevier representatives established the agreement terms to ensure continued access to Elsevier's journals and support the NERL core values of transparency, sustainability, equity, reproducibility, and flexibility. Elsevier KERIS and Elsevier sign subscription agreement for research access. The Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) and Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, today announced an agreement to provide researchers affiliated with KERIS access to global academic research. Administered under the KERIS Academic License, the three-year subscription took effect from January 1, 2022 to provide researchers from 217 KERIS-affiliated institutions with access to ScienceDirect, Elsevier's world-leading platform that brings together scientific knowledge and peer-reviewed research with more than 16 million articles from the company's 2,650 journals. Elsevier Elsevier appoints Laura Hassink as Managing Director, STM Journals. Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Hassink as the new Managing Director for STM Journals, succeeding Philippe Terheggen, who has retired at the end of 2021 after a distinguished 30-year career at Elsevier. Elsevier Educational Publishers Obtain Preliminary Injunction Against 60 Illegal Websites that Use Online Ads to Sell Pirated Content. Educational publishers, Macmillan Learning, Cengage Group, Elsevier, McGraw Hill and Pearson, have obtained a Preliminary Injunction from the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against 60 websites that sell illegal, unlicensed copies of eBooks. The publishers filed suit against the operators of these websites on August 9, 2021, and on the same date obtained a Temporary Restraining Order that required the immediate shutdown of the infringing activity on these websites, as well as the cessation of the services provided by intermediaries that support the websites. With the Preliminary Injunction, that injunctive relief has now been extended through the pendency of the litigation. This is the fourth suit in less than two years that the publishers have brought against pirate eBook websites, and the fourth time they have successfully obtained a Preliminary Injunction. Elsevier Elsevier's Scopus expands to include SSRN preprints. Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, announced that preprints from SSRN, its world-leading early stage research and preprint platform, are now available through Scopus, Elsevier's abstract and citation database. Elsevier Elsevier joins NSF partnership established to tackle major engineering challenges. The National Science Foundation Directorate for Engineering, the University Industry Demonstration Partnership, the Big Ten Academic Alliance, and the EPSCoR/IDeA Foundation announced the launch of a new initiative titled Engineering Research Visioning Alliance which will serve as a force multiplier for high-impact research on society's grand challenges. Managed by UIDP and funded with a five-year, $8 million award from NSF, ERVA will convene engineering voices to prioritize topics for innovative research that both benefits society and leads to a more secure and sustainable world. UIDP and ERVA will leverage a sophisticated operational model for ideation activities.
