Electronic resource discoverability. At UKSG 2024 annual conference in Brighton (UK) we ran a sessions on discoverability from the perspective of a vendor (Clarivate), a content provider (Gale), and a librarian (Coventry). We asked participants to answer a straw poll on the discoverability of their electronic resources. The results suggested that in even with all the modern discoverability tools available most participants felt at least some or in many cases a majority of their collections were "not discoverable". We found this "discovery" interesting, and decided to explore it further in this survey, aimed specifically at librarians.This survey explores how librarians experience and improve the discoverability of eResources - both with the library catalogue and across external services (discovery services, research assistants, content provider platforms, etc.). Cengage launches GenAI-powered student assistant In beta to empower students and personalize learning. Cengage, the U.S. higher education business of global edtech company Cengage Group, today announced the beta launch of its GenAI-powered Student Assistant, which more than 5,000 students will have the opportunity to test this fall semester. Cengage Group announces $500 million investment from Apollo Funds. Cengage Group, a global edtech company, announced it has signed a definitive agreement with funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management, Inc. whereby Apollo Funds will purchase $500 million of a new series of convertible preferred stock of Cengage Group, subject to certain adjustments. The transaction is expected to close by June 30, 2023, subject to customary closing conditions. [Full Announcement].

McGraw-Hill and Cengage jointly agree to terminate planned merger of equals. McGraw-Hill and Cengage announced that they have mutually agreed to terminate their proposed merger of equals, which had been announced in May 2019. The decision was unanimously approved by the Boards of Directors of McGraw-Hill and Cengage. The Termination Agreement foresees no payment of a break fee on either side. [Full Announcement].

Cengage reaffirms commitment to student affordability following termination of McGraw-Hill merger agreement. Cengage, an education and technology company, today announced that its merger agreement with McGraw-Hill has been terminated by mutual agreement due to a prolonged regulatory review process and the inability to agree to a divestitures package with the U.S. Department of Justice. Corporate Committee for Library Investment issues statement in response to White House 2019 budget proposal. he Corporate Committee for Library Investment (CCLI), an organization of more than 90 U.S. corporations united to support federal library funding, believes that the proposed cuts to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) damage critical economic and educational infrastructure. Gale and Texas Public Libraries deliver program to give residents access to accredited high school diplomas. Five Texas libraries have partnered with Gale, a leading provider of library resources and a Cengage company, to offer the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and career certificate at public libraries across the state. Qualifying Texas adults can enroll in the Career Online High School program starting today through the following public library systems: Houston, Dallas, Frisco, Grapevine and Sulphur Springs.
