Backstage Library Works. Backstage begins processing 2.5 million books and 14,000 DVDs on-site at Alderman Library, University of Virginia. Backstage Library Works announced that it has moved into full production with extensive on-site inventory, cleaning, and cataloging projects for Alderman Library at the University of Virginia. Backstage will be processing 2,528,840 items across four collections, including the general collection, government documents, Tibetan, and DVD collections. Backstage Library Works. Backstage begins RFID tagging 1.9 million items for East Baton Rouge Parish Library. Backstage Library Works has begun production on a massive RFID tagging project for the East Baton Rouge Parish Library. The project is part of the library’s conversion to a unified RFID inventory system, which upon completion, will deliver greater accuracy in circulation and inventory while making library staff more available to patrons. Backstage will tag over 1.9 million barcoded items contained in fourteen library branches, one outreach services facility, and an external storage facility. [Full Announcement].

Backstage Library Works. Backstage's Bethleham office debuts expansion. Backstage Library Works (www.bslw.com) officially opened the new wing of their office in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The expansion adds 2,800 square feet of office space. The new addition will accommodate Backstage’s growing Metadata and Digitization teams, enabling them to gear up quickly and efficiently for incoming projects.The addition allows Backstage to consolidate all of their planetary cameras in one location. Increased space between cameras allows for more efficient and safer handing of client materials, and improved operator comfort. Bay sizes have also been increased in camera stations designated for oversize materials.In addition to providing room for expansion of traditional, planetary camera bays, Backstage now has a dedicated studio for capturing dimensional objects. Casey has worked with Backstage for 14 years and has fulfilled many roles, including assistant project manager and project manager in retrospective conversion, reclassification, and cataloging.
