Association of Southeastern Research Libraries ASERL and SURA Endorse Model Language for Research Data Management Policies. The Association of Southeastern Research Libraries and the Southeast Universities Research Association have endorsed language to assist their member institutions in drafting sound policies to govern the uses and management of research data generated by university faculty and staff. Association of Southeastern Research Libraries ASERL Partners with Duke University as Host Organization. For several months, members of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL) have been considering the benefits of locating ASERL’s office within a member library to provide staff with ongoing, day-to-day contact with the people and issues research libraries encounter. At their Spring 2011 Annual Meeting, ASERL’s Board and membership agreed to partner with Duke University (Durham, NC) to serve as ASERL’s new host organization. ASERL’s Executive Director will be located at Duke University effective July 1, 2011. [Full Announcement].

ARL and Ithaka S+R Awarded IMLS Grant to Study Digitized Special CollectionsWashington DC—The Association of Research Libraries (ARL), in collaboration with Ithaka S+R, has been awarded a grant by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) National Leadership Grants Program in the amount of $464,286 to study how libraries, archives, and museums are sustaining digitized special collections. The 2-year study builds upon past work examining sustainability of digital resources done by Ithaka S+R. [Full Announcement].

Association of Southeastern Research Libraries ASERL launches Kudzu: linking 14 Southeastern Research Libraries. On January 15, 2001, the Association of Southeastern Research launches "Kudzu," a system of linked online catalogs at 14 research libraries across the Southeast, connecting more than 180,000 students and faculty to more than 23 million volumes. The system allows users to browse the participating catalogs using a single search interface, and to submit interlibrary loan requests directly to the source library. Using existing systems at each participating site, most documents can be delivered within two days. [Full Announcement].
