American Chemical Society ACS Publications provides a new option to support zero-embargo green open access. Beginning Oct. 1, 2023, the Publications Division of the American Chemical Society will provide authors with a new option to satisfy funder requirements for zero-embargo green open access. Through this pathway, authors will be able to post accepted manuscripts with a CC BY license in open access repositories immediately upon acceptance. To ensure a sustainable model of delivering services from submission to final editorial decision, ACS Publications is introducing an article development charge as part of this new zero-embargo green open access option. The ADC covers the cost of ACS' publishing services through the final editorial decision. This includes organizing, developing and maintaining the high-quality, scholarly peer review process and multiple other publishing services provided by a vast global network of editors and reviewers. American Chemical Society The American Chemical Society acquires ChronosHub, an open access management platform. The American Chemical Society announced that ChronosHub is joining ACS as an independent subsidiary working alongside ACS Publications to enhance the publication experience for researchers. As an ardent supporter of authors and open science, it was a natural fit for ACS to invest in ChronosHub — an innovative open access management platform that streamlines publishing workflows and ensures effective collaboration between all stakeholders. Together, ACS and ChronosHub will develop a new state-of-the-art, OA-friendly publishing experience that will simplify the complexities of today's scientific publishing environment. American Chemical Society ACS Publications announces open access initiative for primarily undergraduate institutions. The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society announced that it is sponsoring open access publication for corresponding authors at qualifying primarily undergraduate institutions. The program is available to any PUI that doesn't offer graduate degrees in the sciences and that subscribes to the journal section of the ACS All Publications Package. [Full Announcement].

American Chemical Society American Chemical Society announces new CEO: Albert G. Horvath. The American Chemical Society (ACS) Board of Directors has selected Albert G. Horvath, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at ACS, as the Society's next CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2023. He succeeds Thomas Connelly Jr., who is retiring after nearly eight years with ACS. American Chemical Society Institutions partner with ACS to advance first California-wide transformative open access agreement. Three California consortia, representing nearly 60 academic and research institutions, and the Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) today announced the first-ever California-wide transformative open access agreement. It is also ACS' first “read and publish” agreement in the U.S. composed of multiple consortia. Through a partnership with the 10-campus University of California (UC) system, the 23-campus California State University (CSU) system, and 25 subscribing institutions represented by the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC), readers and researchers at dozens of California research institutions will be able to benefit from full access to subscription content while receiving support for open access publication in ACS' portfolio of more than 75 premier chemistry journals.
