The website incorporates new branding for Georgia Public Library Service, including a logo that represents the role of public libraries as welcoming, innovative and fun places to achieve your goals.

(Georgia Public Library Service) The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has named the Georgia Public Library Service as one of 10 recipients of the second annual Mellon Awards for Technology Collaboration. The $50,000 grant recognizes GPLS for the development and release of the Evergreen open-source library automation system.

August 21, 2006

(Georgia Public Library Service) The Georgia Public Library Service will debut its new Evergreen software on September 5, 2006, along with a new, Web-based PINES catalog featuring book covers, reviews, tables of contents and a variety of easy-to-use searches that will allow library users to locate materials quickly and efficiently throughout the system.

(Georgia Public Library Service) Georgia State Librarian Lamar Veatch announced that the Georgia Public Library Service will not renew its contract Sirsi Corporation beyond 2006 and is embarking on an Open Source development effort to create a library automation system for the PINES consortium of 249 libraries.
