(Civica) The 2019 Civica Libraries Index reveals similarities among the tastes of book lovers and movie buffs, with many of the most borrowed books from libraries across Australia and New Zealand headed to the big screen. The Index reveals seven of the top 20 titles are set to be adapted to films or television series, with stories authored by Australians becoming increasingly popular choices for adaptations, both locally and globally.

(Ex Libris) Ex Libris announced that the University of the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland, Australia, has opted to become an early adopter of the Ex Libris Esploro research services platform. Seamlessly integrated with an institution’s research workflows, the Esploro platform increases the impact of academic research by systematically capturing, managing, and disseminating research output and data; leveraging library expertise and technology; and strengthening compliance with institutional policies and government and funder requirements. As a member of the Esploro early adopter program, the university will collaborate with Ex Libris in the development of the solution’s functionality.

(ProQuest) ProQuest and Atairos, an independent private company focused on supporting growth-oriented businesses, announced that Atairos will acquire an ownership position in ProQuest. ProQuest will use the proceeds from the transaction to repurchase most of the shares owned by entities affiliated with the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, which will retain a minority interest in the Company. Cambridge Information Group will maintain its majority ownership of ProQuest. CIG has been the majority owner of ProQuest since 2007, overseeing a period of growth through new product innovation and strategic acquisitions that have helped ProQuest customers respond to changing environments.

(Private Academic Library Network of Indiana) Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded $520,000 to the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) for PALSave, an affordable education initiative that will combat rising textbook costs and their detrimental effects on student success and retention.

(Insignia Software Corporation) Insignia Software announced that they have been awarded the contract to provide their ILS and services to The Blythe Public Library at the Commons in Blythe, GA

(EBSCO Information Services) EBSCO Information Services and The Carroll Center for the Blind today announced a partnership in which the two organizations will work together to improve and enhance the experience across EBSCO products for users with a varying array of disabilities. The Carroll Center for the Blind, based in Newton, Massachusetts, offers a wide range of comprehensive services for the blind and visually impaired at all ages and all stages of vision loss.
