(Overdrive) Rakuten and Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, have concluded an agreement related to Rakuten OverDrive, a digital library service offered by the Rakuten Group. Based on the agreement, Kobe City will adopt the Rakuten OverDrive digital library service for the first time on a trial basis.The adoption of the digital library service will allow residents of Kobe City to use the service at every municipal library in Kobe City.

(OCLC) Allen County Public Library, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, has signed on to implement OCLC Wise, the first community engagement system for U.S. public libraries. The agreement represents the first commitment by a U.S. public library to implement Wise. Uniquely holistic in its design, Wise integrates tools for increasing community engagement with the functions of library management. The system is engineered to elevate library experiences, the experiences of the people who use the library, and the dedicated staff who engage with the community. It is designed around people and driven by data—enabling libraries to evolve as their communities evolve.

(Gale Group) Gale, a Cengage company, is introducing a new digital archive that’s considered the social media of the 19th century and gives students and researchers a unique inside look at how teens and young adults of the period expressed themselves and their opinions to the world. Amateur Newspapers from the American Antiquarian Society is the largest and most extensive digital archive in the U.S., providing authentic newspaper writings published by the younger generation of the 19th century. The archive gives an unprecedented look at how youth viewed themselves, their hometowns, the country and the world around them during the era, drawing researchers into the world of America’s first youth subcultures. (Clarivate Analytics) Clarivate Analytics has partnered with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB), the Egyptian government’s digital library and online knowledge hub to launch the first Arabic Citation Index (ARCI). This index will launch in 2020 as part of Egypt’s 2030 Vision to transform Egypt into a ‘knowledge economy’ and will be the first ever mapping of Arabic scholarly literature in a citation index. The ARCI will be powered by the Web of Science- the world’s most trusted and only publisher-neutral citation index for researchers in Egypt and across the 22 member states of the Arab League.

(Ex Libris) Ex Libris announced that Liberty University has selected the Ex Libris Alma library services platform. Liberty University is the largest private, nonprofit university in the United States and the largest university in Virginia. Alma will be implemented alongside the school’s Summon discovery service. The Alma platform will facilitate the management and delivery of resources and support Summon’s robust patron-facing discovery services.

(Follett) Follett’s Aspen Student Information System (SIS), which already is firmly established in Rhode Island as a partner to 50 percent of the state’s K-12 school districts, has again earned preferred vendor status from the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE). When purchasing a new SIS, school districts and RIDE can continue to adopt Follett’s Aspen without first issuing a request for proposal.

(Scholarly iQ) Danish machine-learning company UNSILO and leading analytics provider Scholarly iQ (SiQ) have announced a partnership to provide a unified analytics solution for publishers and institutions. The tool will enable organisations involved in academic publishing, such as institutions, publishers, and societies, to be able to track usage of any document, and to link the usage to the key concepts contained within that document.
