(Follett) The public voting will begin next week for the seventh annual Follett Challenge’s “People’s Choice” awards as the 133 schools and districts entered in this year’s competition vie for prizes worth $8,000 each in products and services from Follett. The 10 “People’s Choice” prizes will be awarded to those schools/districts that receive the highest number of online votes from the public for their three- to five-minute videos, which were submitted as part of the application process.

(Follett) Follett Corporation announced that President and CEO Ray A. Griffith will retire from the company at the end of the current fiscal year in March 2018. The Board has appointed former Sodexo executive Patrick E. Connolly to succeed Griffith as President and CEO, effective January 2, 2018.

(Follett) In its continuing effort to serve the growing makerspace movement, Follett announced today it will sell a selection of LEGO Education solutions. These solutions will be offered by Follett specifically for school librarians in the U.S. who are interested in establishing a makerspace in their library.

(Follett) The 2018 Follett Challenge, open for entries through Dec. 15, will reward $200,000 in products and services from Follett to schools/districts with innovative educational programs that teach 21st-century skills to students. All public and private K-12 schools/districts in the U.S., Canada, and Australia are eligible to apply.

(Follett) Follett is being honored by the Illinois School Library Media Association with the organization’s 2017 Pillar Award. Follett will receive the honor Friday Oct. 20, 2017 at ISLMA’s Awards Dinner Banquet in Springfield, Ill., which caps the association’s three-day 2017 conference.

(Follett) Follett announced it is entering the school book fair market, a highly anticipated launch that will see the company maximize its existing partnerships with thousands of publishers to offer a vast selection of books for early education, elementary and middle school students. The Follett Book Fairs launch begins for the 2017-18 school year on a regional basis, and then will expand throughout the country the following year. Librarians familiar with Follett have been eager to get their schools signed up.

(Follett) Bernards Township School District in Basking Ridge, N.J., capped an extensive two-year search by selecting Follett’s Aspen for its new student information system. The PreK-12 district implemented Aspen in time for the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.

(Follett) Follett announced its popular Rewards program is returning, allowing customers to accrue points on purchases and redeem them for valuable products. Customers will earn points on all textbook, consumable and buyback transactions, including any qualifying purchases made on or after April 1.

(Follett) Designed to provide customers with real-time insights into how their educational resources are being managed, Follett announced it is offering Destiny Analytics, a district-wide subscription solution to complement its market-leading Destiny Library Manager and Destiny Resource Manager platforms. The multi-featured reporting solution will allow administrators and educators to explore data from both platforms, including student patron records, and to discover trends and exceptions that are displayed into easy-to-understand graphs and charts.

(Follett) Follett next week will formally introduce a new educational tool, Collections by Destiny, that will allow customers to create new, collaborative ways for librarians, teachers, and curriculum staff to share free or purchased resources across the district, schools or between users. Collections will provide educators around-the-clock access to quickly find the resources that provide more learning opportunities and practice content for fast delivery into the classroom.

(Follett) Future Ready Librarians (FRL), formed by Future Ready Schools (FRS) a year ago, announced today a micro-credential for librarians—“Empowering Students as Creators”— has been developed and will be piloted by five U.S. school districts in the fall. As with FRL, the development of the micro-credential is a joint partnership between Follett’s Project Connect, the Alliance for Excellent Education, and Digital Promise.
