(Follett) Follett announced that it has acquired Fishtree, a leading adaptive learning platform that streamlines both the technical integration and educational adoption of personalized learning in school classrooms. Follett will integrate the machine-based learning tools of Fishtree within Follett’s industry leading Destiny content and resource management platform used by more than 70,000 schools and school districts across North America. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

(Follett) Follett has again achieved Massachusetts School Interoperability Framework (SIF) certification and its Massachusetts SIS/SIF contract has been renewed through June 2019. All student information system (SIS) vendors, such as Follett with its Aspen solution, must be certified before they may secure contracts with districts in the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.

(Follett) Follett’s Aspen Student Information System (SIS), which already is firmly established in Rhode Island as a partner to 50 percent of the state’s K-12 school districts, has again earned preferred vendor status from the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE). When purchasing a new SIS, school districts and RIDE can continue to adopt Follett’s Aspen without first issuing a request for proposal.

The partnership, entering its fifth year, enables Follett customers to enjoy seamless integration with their market-leading Destiny solution. The integration enables students to begin their library experience without delay and saves district staff from having to carry out time-consuming updates.

(Follett) Follett announced it has successfully completed the Ed-Fi Data Standard Certification for its Aspen Student Information System (SIS). Developed by a community of ed-tech experts and technologists, the Ed-Fi Data Standard is a set of rules for the collection, management, and organization of educational data that allows multiple systems to exchange this information seamlessly. Follett’s Aspen Student Information System hosts and manages student data, safely and securely stores data such as class schedules, student performance, health records, and athletic eligibility, and allows educators to closely monitor student progress, implement new curriculum, and conveniently communicate with parents.

(Follett) Follett announced it has signed an exclusive channel partnership with NextTier Education for its cloud-based software solution that provides educators, students, and parents with guidance, information and insight to help students achieve their postsecondary goals. Effective immediately, Follett will begin selling NextTier to public and private school districts and schools, both domestically and internationally.

(Follett) For the second time in three years, the Grand Prize winner of the Follett Challenge is from the state of Alaska. Tudor Elementary School, part of the Anchorage School District, learned in a video announcement it had won the seventh annual contest, which is sponsored by Follett. Created by Chuck Follett, retired president and CEO of Follett Corporation, the contest seeks and rewards innovative K-12 programs teaching 21st-century skills in today’s schools.

(Follett) Follett announced Follett Book Fairs, which launched regionally at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year, will expand into Texas, effective August 2018. Nader Qaimari, Follett School Solutions’ president, made the announcement at the 2018 Texas Library Association Annual Conference in Dallas, and said Follett Book Fairs will begin with PreK-8 schools in the Houston and Dallas areas.

(Follett) A new advisory board has been formed by Follett to help K-12 school libraries make the transition from the Dewey Decimal System to a more student friendly, bookstore-like layout based on genres. The Genrefication Advisory Board, comprised of nearly 20 national and international librarians and media specialists, will meet for the first time this week at the 2018 Texas Library Association Annual Conference in Dallas to help establish a set of genre standards.

In an online announcement today, organizers of the Follett Challenge unveiled the seventh annual competition’s three diverse Semifinalists, as well as the 10 People’s Choice winners.

The 10 “People’s Choice” prizes will be awarded to those schools/districts that receive the highest number of online votes from the public for their three- to five-minute videos, which were submitted as part of the application process.
