(Demco) Demco Software has partnered with the U.S. Department of Defense through the libraries of the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines to provide BrainHQ online brain training to members of the armed services. Now, a library card is all that active, reserve, and retired personnel and their families need to take advantage of scientifically-proven brain training. BrainHQ is available through Demco’s software platform, which offers 24/7 access to this online resource from the comfort of the patron’s device of choice.

(KOMBIT) December var første måned, hvor vi tydeligt kunne se effekten af de seneste måneders arbejde med at stabilisere driften af FBS. Selvom vi oplevede to databasefejl tidligt på morgenen henholdsvis d. 20. og 31. december, så var det for den resterende tid en måned med stabil drift, et stort antal forespørgsler (godt 142 millioner) og en gennemsnitlig svartid på 182 millisekunder, hvilket er næsten en halvering i forhold til november.

(OCLC) The U.S. Department of State has selected OCLC WorldShare Management Services, the library management system that offers more efficient back-office operations, integrated services, and a single-search discovery interface for library users.

(Ex Libris) Ex Libris announced that the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, the University of Cape Town, and the University of the Western Cape are now operational with the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and Primo® discovery and delivery solution. They join Stellenbosch University, the first university in Africa to choose Alma, which went live in early 2017.

(OCLC) University College Dublin, one of Europe's leading research-intensive universities, will use OCLC Sustainable Collection Services (SCS) to tackle collection management challenges as it redefines its library services and facilities.

(DuraSpace) After serving for several years on the Board, and for three years on the Executive Group, Laura Wood, Associate University Librarian for Research and Education at Harvard Library, is stepping down from her post as Board President. To fill this vacancy the Board has approved the following slate: Tyler Walters, Dean, University Libraries and Professor, Virginia Tech, will serve as President, Tom Cramer, Assistant University Librarian and Director, Digital Library Systems & Services Chief Technology Strategist Stanford University Libraries, and Heather Joseph, Executive Director of the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC), will remain in their current positions as Vice President and Secretary, respectively, and Rob Cartolano, Associate Vice President for Digital Programs and Technology Services for Columbia University Libraries/Information Services, will serve as Treasurer to fill the position vacated by Tyler. Laura will remain on the Board through the spring.

(Follett) The public voting will begin next week for the seventh annual Follett Challenge’s “People’s Choice” awards as the 133 schools and districts entered in this year’s competition vie for prizes worth $8,000 each in products and services from Follett. The 10 “People’s Choice” prizes will be awarded to those schools/districts that receive the highest number of online votes from the public for their three- to five-minute videos, which were submitted as part of the application process.

(Elsevier) The FinELib consortium and information analytics business Elsevier today signed an agreement making Elsevier's globally published research articles available to Finnish academic institutions, while providing Finnish researches with incentives to publish open access if they so choose.

This tool provides college and career planning assistance to help users make informed, confident decisions about their professional future.

(ProQuest) A unique and comprehensive set of Civil War manuscripts and records is now available on a History Vault module – and Choice has recognized it as one of the magazine’s 2017 Outstanding Academic Title award-winners.

(King County Library System) Most recently the Director and Chief Librarian for Brooklyn Public Library in New York City, Lisa Rosenblum began her first day today as the new director of King County Library System, one of the busiest library systems in the country.
