(Civica) Civica announced that a consortium of nine councils in Western Australia’s Great Southern region has chosen Spydus10 for all its libraries. The consortium headed by the City of Albany consists of libraries from the Shires of Broomehill-Tambellup, Cranbrook, Denmark, Gnowangerup, Jerramungup, Katanning, Kojunup, and Plantagenet.

The city of Willoughby, which enjoys an enviable reputation as a “city with everything,” offers library services at the City Library at Chatswood, and five branch libraries at Artarmon, Castle Cove, Naremburn, Northbridge and West Chatswood and a community Library at Castlecrag.

The City of Ipswich, which boasts the youngest population demographic in Australia has been planning a complete system overhaul for some time. Some of their primary objectives include meeting the needs of its audience and supporting its Advance Ipswich Strategy 2015 plan. In summary, they were looking for a solution which could help them transform their library service delivery to the community.

(Civica) Civica, provider of Australia's leading library system, Spydus, partnering with the Australian Library and Information Association are announcing the findings to coincide with this year's Library and Information Week (22-28 May). The annual Civica Libraries Index is compiled in partnership with participating regional and metropolitan libraries across Australia using the Civica Spydus integrated library management system. The system was developed in Australia and is used by 2,500 libraries around the world.

(Civica) New research by Civica, Australia’s leading provider of library information and collection management solutions through its market leading Spydus portfolio, reveals that Chinese language books and media are the most popular library resources in Australia that cater to members who consume media in languages other than English. Just under 750,000 Chinese language loans were processed last year. Interestingly, the data also showed that just under 50 languages and dialects are available to borrow in public library collections across Australia.

(Civica) New research has shown us that our local library must be ready to embrace changing community needs. An in-depth survey into the value of libraries as public spaces undertaken by Civica and the University of Technology Sydney’s Institute for Public Policy and Governance (UTS:IPPG), found a very strong belief that libraries of the future will become community support centres. In many cases they will need to open for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
