(OCLC) The University of Bristol, ranked among the top universities in the world, has selected OCLC WorldShare Management Services as its new cloud-based library services platform.

(Sabinet) The National Library of South Africa will reinvest in their local library management practices by moving all library functions to the OCLC WorldShare platform. WorldShare provides a complete set of library management applications and platform services built on an open, cloud-based platform and offers integrated management of library workflows that create new efficiencies as libraries share work, data and resources to save money and deliver value to their users.

(OCLC) OCLC Research and the Association for Library and Information Science Education have awarded research grants for three projects to be conducted by five researchers. The awards were presented February 8 at the ALISE 2018 Annual Conference Awards Luncheon in Denver, Colorado.

(Private Academic Library Network of Indiana) The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana announced the addition of two institutions, Bethel College and Saint Mary’s College, to the PALNI family. Bethel College and Saint Mary’s College join a highly engaged and collaborative group of private college and seminary libraries across the state bringing the number of supported institutions up to twenty-four. PALNI uses OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services to provide direct, unmediated access to the collective collections of all the institutions without the need to export or import records. OCLC is also continuing development in WMS to support collaboration in analytics, licensing, and more.

(OCLC) Library and Archives Canada has launched Voilà, Canada’s new National Union Catalogue that will make the country’s documentary heritage more widely accessible and available to library users in Canada and around the world through WorldCat.

(OCLC) OCLC, along with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, has named five librarians selected to participate in the Jay Jordan IFLA/OCLC Early Career Development Fellowship Program for 2018. The program supports library and information science professionals from countries with developing economies.

Szabo, City Librarian of the Los Angeles Public Library, was formally appointed Chair, and Bernadette Gray-Little, Chancellor Emerita at the University of Kansas, and Peter Sidorko, University Librarian at The University of Hong Kong, took their seats on the OCLC Board of Trustees today during the board’s November meeting.

(OCLC) OCLC is partnering with libraries, library schools and organizations on four projects that were recently awarded grants through the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services. These projects will further IMLS goals to enhance the training and professional development of librarians, faculty and library leaders, and educate the next generation of librarians.

(OCLC) OCLC Research and euroCRIS, the international organization for research information, announce a strategic partnership to recognize and understand international research information management practices through collaborative research. The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) earlier this year.

(OCLC) OCLC and Internet Archive are working together to make the Archive's collection of 2.5 million digitized books easier to find and access online and through local libraries. OCLC will process metadata from the Internet Archive for its digital collection, matching to existing records in WorldCat, the world's most comprehensive database of information about library collections, or adding a new record if one does not exist. The WorldCat record will include a link leading back to the Archive.org record. From there, searchers can examine or potentially borrow the related digital item.

(OCLC) OCLC now supports IIIF Image and Presentation APIs in its CONTENTdm digital collection management software, ensuring that its member libraries and institutions can share and present millions of digital images across a variety of applications and platforms. CONTENTdm, currently used by more than 2,500 institutions worldwide, was recently redesigned to create a new end-user experience for any device. The redesign supports the IIIF Image API, which provides a common mechanism for manipulating digital images for display and download. The IIIF Presentation API, which makes it possible to present image metadata and navigate through complex digital objects, is now the second API added to CONTENTdm. The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), driven by a thriving community of libraries, museums, software firms, scholars and technologists working with digital images and digital image repositories, provides a community-driven set of shared API specifications for interoperable functionality in digital image repositories.
