(OCLC) Allen County Public Library, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, has signed on to implement OCLC Wise, the first community engagement system for U.S. public libraries. The agreement represents the first commitment by a U.S. public library to implement Wise. Uniquely holistic in its design, Wise integrates tools for increasing community engagement with the functions of library management. The system is engineered to elevate library experiences, the experiences of the people who use the library, and the dedicated staff who engage with the community. It is designed around people and driven by data—enabling libraries to evolve as their communities evolve.

(OCLC) OCLC and Casalini Libri have signed an agreement to expand their partnership to provide libraries with high quality bibliographic records that improve library users’ access to authoritative content. Under terms of the expanded agreement, Casalini Libri will provide bibliographic records for titles from over 4,000 publishers in Europe, in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Greek languages, in addition to Italian. By supplying this data to OCLC, member libraries save time in processing the print and electronic content represented by those records, and can quickly make that content available to their users and researchers.

(OCLC) OCLC Research announced that Chela Scott Weber has joined the OCLC Research Library Partnership as Senior Program Officer. In this role, Weber will help enact the OCLC research and learning agenda that she crafted in 2017 as she served as a practitioner researcher-in-residence.

(OCLC) The Tolstoy Library (Die Tolstoi-Bibliothek) in Munich, the largest Russian-language non-governmental library in Western Europe, has selected OCLC WorldShare Management Services as its new library services platform.

(OCLC) The Norwegian Library Center (Biblioteksentralen SA) is working with OCLC to enable public libraries in Norway to load records of their collections into WorldCat, the world’s most comprehensive database of information about library collections, increasing the visibility of these collections around the world.

(OCLC) OCLC and Talis, the UK-based organization that creates resource management solutions for educators, have signed an agreement that will enable faculty at institutions that subscribe to both Talis Aspire Reading Lists and OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services to create reading lists for students with improved integration through their libraries.

(OCLC) Bethel College, in Mishawaka, Indiana, and Saint Mary’s College, in Notre Dame, Indiana, have joined the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI), and are now part of the OCLC WorldShare Management Services community.

(OCLC) The Public Library Association, a division of the American Library Association, and the ALA Office for Library Advocacy, in partnership with OCLC, released the report, From Awareness to Funding: Voter Perceptions and Support of Public Libraries in 2018. The research updates OCLC’s seminal 2008 study that explored voter perceptions, use, and attitudes toward public libraries, librarians, and library funding.

(OCLC) Following a successful launch in the United States, OCLC is extending its Digby mobile app to libraries worldwide, offering student library workers, volunteers and staff greater efficiency, accuracy and independence working with WorldShare Management Services. As a suite of web-based applications, WorldShare Management Services allows library staff to do their work in the library, at home, or on the go. The intuitive design of the Digby app provides clear instructions for handling pull-list and re-shelving tasks. Digby lets workers scan library materials in the stacks, saving them time and reducing their reliance on paper slips.

(OCLC) OCLC introduces Syndeo, a flexible suite of services specifically designed to facilitate national and regional library collaboration. Syndeo supports OCLC cooperative cataloging, resource sharing and library management services necessary to run individual institutions along with the technology and infrastructure required of a national library. Syndeo provides improved efficiencies with support for in-region workflows, including authority file management and copy cataloging from more than 400 million records in WorldCat, the world’s most comprehensive global network of data about library collections and services. Syndeo offers greater visibility of regional collections to searchers worldwide by registering collections in WorldCat. And the suite reduces maintenance costs with a new, state-of-the-art infrastructure.
