(EBSCO Industries) NAPCO, a leading specialty packaging provider, founded in 1977, announced today it has agreed to acquire the assets of Vulcan Information Packaging (including Binders.com), a division of EBSCO Industries. Vulcan (VIP) will operate as an independent subsidiary of NAPCO under their current leadership team in their current facility in Vincent, AL.

(Elsevier) Elsevier, the global information analytics business specializing in science and health, today acquired bepress, a Berkeley, California-based business that helps academic libraries showcase and share their institutions' research for maximum impact. Founded by three University of California, Berkeley professors in 1999, bepress allows institutions to collect, organize, preserve and disseminate their intellectual output, including preprints, working papers, journals or specific articles, dissertations, theses, conference proceedings and a wide variety of other data.

(Rakuten Kobo) The book retailers in the tolino alliance have a new technology partner. Rakuten Kobo Inc. from Canada, one of the world’s fastest-growing eReading service providers, will acquire the tolino technology platform from Deutsche Telekom at the end of January 2017 to become the new technology partner of the tolino alliance. The corresponding contracts have been signed. The founding book retail partners of the tolino alliance – Hugendubel, Thalia and Weltbild – are delighted to welcome Kobo as their new partner. It means that two of the leading providers in the global market for digital reading will be working closely together in future. The transaction is still pending approval from the German Federal Cartel Office.
