HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – July 2, 2009 – Bibliotheca Inc., open RFID solutions partner of choice to 400+ libraries worldwide, announced today that the Santa Clara County (Calif.) Library is purchasing a range of the company’s BiblioChip RFID technology-based solutions, including Bibliotheca’s Orion self-check stations for library patrons, Biblio StaffStations for easy replacement of barcodes with RFID tags and new enhanced BiblioGate VI 3D security gates at each of the library’s outlets. The library is also investing in Bibliotheca’s industry-leading automated materials handling (AMH) technology.
The Santa Clara County Library is replacing its current self-check units with Bibliotheca’s new Orion series of stations. By integrating Bibliotheca BiblioChip technology with the library’s current circulation software, SirsiDynix Horizon, patrons and staff will be able to use familiar, user-friendly interfaces on the new Bibliotheca stations. The open, standards-based BiblioChip solution also provides the library the flexibility to leverage its existing investment in AMH, as the library’s current sorter hardware will be retrofitted with RFID readers to enable them to read RFID tags that comply with the Open Danish Data standard.
