Universite du Quebec Chooses Ex Libris Primo Solution

Chicago, IL – April 14, 2008. Ex Libris Group is pleased to announce that the Universite du Quebec (UQ) has selected the Primo discovery and delivery solution to serve as the main portal for the libraries of eight of the university’s constituents. Major factors in the university’s choice of Primo were its flexible consortial functionality, one-stop search solution, and out-of-the-box multilingual support for all aspects of the system.

"Always mindful of innovations that correspond with the strengths and needs of our institution, we were impressed with the manner in which Primo addresses user expectations for quick, easy, and effective searching and retrieval. We are sure that its Web 2.0 features, such as tags, ratings, and reviews, will be very popular with our students," explains Line Cormier, directrice des bibliotheques et du soutien technologiquea l'enseignement at the Universite du Quebec. "We look forward to introducing the French Primo interface to our users."

"Last year, Ex Libris and UQ implementation teams worked closely to merge the eight UQ catalogs into one and migrate to the Aleph integrated library system by Ex Libris. We feel that this close collaboration was key in meeting our aggressive time line without any extra expenditures," comments Benoit Seguin, directeur du developpement et des services techniques et informatises at the library of Universite du Quebeca Trois-Rivieres. "This successful experience led library directors to look into acquiring additional products from the Ex Libris suite. UQ is planning to go live with the MetaLib gateway and metasearch system and to implement the company’s Primo discovery and delivery solution as the libraries’ main portal."

"We are pleased that our successful partnership with the Universite du Quebec in setting up the Aleph system has led so soon to an expansion of our relationship," comments Susan Pastore, vice president of sales at Ex Libris North America. "A short time after going live with Aleph, we are now working together to implement MetaLib and Primo."

Primo will be deployed at Universite du Quebeca Trois-Rivieres, Universite du Quebeca Chicoutimi, Universite du Quebeca Rimouski, Universite du Quebec en Outaouais, Universite du Quebec en Abitibi-Temiscamingue, Institut national de la recherche scientifique, Ecole nationale d’administration publique, and Ecole de technologie superieure; and hosted at the Universite du Quebeca Trois-Rivieres site.
