Other Info: This library is planned to be the first in a Regional Library System, also the first in any Peruvian region. Doors opened in March 22, 2011. There will be three city libraries in metropolitan Arequipa city, plus 8 other de-centralized libraries, one in each province capital of Arequipa department. Other than Arequipa city, Arequipa department has 8 additional provinces. There will be plain Internet connection and services, and it is said that the total investment is near US $ 11 millions (S/. 30 million nuevos soles in local currency). No information is available about the execution time set for the ambitious project. More information can be available through the Arequipa Regional Government Web site (www.regionarequipa.gob.pe).
