The Agency continues the activities previously carried out by the Integrated Library System (SIBiUSP), while also incorporating new fronts and expanding its scope of operation. The ABCD-USP is responsible for: 1 – Contributing to the excellence of teaching, research, and extension activities through access to qualified services and collections; 2 – Encouraging the development of activities aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on the open access movement, collaborating and supporting the construction of collections and repositories directed to both the academic community and society at large; 3 – Assisting in the implementation of a rationalized and integrated collection development policy; 4 – Supporting different University departments through the generation, analysis, and curation of academic data and information; 5 – Facilitating the training of teams by providing the necessary support to meet the new demands of the academic community and society; 6 – Helping to create suitable conditions for libraries to establish themselves as spaces for scientific and social interaction, inclusive and diverse. The Libraries within the Agency offer essential services and products for the continuous education and updating of students, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as the external audience to USP. Providing conducive environments for study, learning, and research, the Libraries maintain high-quality print collections, facilitate access to and use of digital content, guide undergraduate and postgraduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, staff, and the general public. In daily activities, the collection can be consulted directly in the Libraries or online through the Integrated Search Portal and the USP Bibliographic Database – Dedalus, providing public access to bibliographic records of books, periodicals, all theses and dissertations presented to the University, as well as event works, catalogs, films, iconographies, newspapers, pamphlets, among other materials, leading to the full text whenever possible. The Agency coordinates the management of intellectual production (scientific, academic, technical, and artistic) of the University through its Libraries, which have teams of librarians, technicians, and assistants responsible for collecting, registering, and depositing this production, always in direct contact with the authors. The records and publications are available in the USP Production Repository. Within this scope, the Agency's Coordination is responsible for: the formation, preservation, and conservation of print and electronic collections; training of library teams and users; support for the editing of USP scientific journals; maintenance of location and access services to information in any format; maintenance of digital libraries and other automated programs, as well as special projects demanded by the community.
