Other Info: Installée depuis 1951 dans le cloître de l’ancien couvent des Dominicains, la Bibliothèque de la Ville de Colmar conserve un riche fonds patrimonial : 1 200 manuscrits, environ 2 300 incunables (en cours de recatalogage), environ 50 000 volumes de livres anciens antérieurs à 1801, d’importants fonds locaux, iconographiques et numismatiques. Cette richesse n’a pas empêché un fort développement de la lecture publique, ni la classique diversification des supports dans une région où la tradition musicale est forte. Dans les années à venir, une évolution radicale se prépare : le couvent n’abritera plus qu’une forte unité patrimoniale, tandis qu’une médiathèque de 6 000 m2 sera aménagée dans un autre bâtiment ancien en centre ville.
