Other Info: The library at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is one of the largest botanical libraries in Europe and plays a vital role in supporting the information needs of research staff and students. The collection comprises over 85,000 books and 1,600 current periodicals. Founded in the 17th century, the Garden has the second richest collection of plant species in the world. It is first and foremost a scientific institution, dedicated to discovering and describing plants and their relationships, evolution, conservation and biology. This research is underpinned by the Gardenís internationally important collections of living and preserved plants, a large specialist library, and by modern, well-equipped laboratories.
