Authentication and security issues: options in the library Web environment

by

Abstract: From the conference program: Although most libraries do not perform electronic commerce with their Web servers, many do need to provide sensitive and confidential content to their authorized users, yet prevent unauthorized access. Learn how to make your Web site more secure and how to protect confidential and proprietary data in a Web environment. Some of the topics covered in this workshop will include an introduction to the PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), X.509 Digital Certificates, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and how to implement these technologies in a Web environment.
