SAN DIEGO, CA. Data Trek Inc. (DTI), the library automation company, has moved its corporate and operational headquarters to a new research and development park in Carlsbad, CA.
Data Trek provides library automation software and hardware, including full turn-key systems, for libraries containing up to 500,000 volumes.
The core of Data Trek's growth has been its CARD DATALOG software, first developed in 1981 and steadily Improved and refined through a series of versions. CARD DATALOG 5.010 is the latest.
Data Trek now occupies its own 19,200 square foot two-story structure on a 1.5 acre site in the new business park near the McClellan-Palomar airport in Carlsbad.
The address is 5838 Edison Place, Carlsbad, CA 92008-6596. Data Trek has been located previously in smaller leased facilities In nearby Encinitas, CA.
David T. Cheatham, president, said the new $2.6 mi]lion headquarters will enable Data Trek to better meet the demands of a growing market by centralizing and strengthening both product development and customer support.
"We plan to bring new software products, including another enhancement of CARD DATALOG, to the market later this year, and our customer support services are the key to continued market acceptance," he said.
More than 1,200 libraries, including many outside the United States, use Data Trek software to manage essential library functions.
The types of libraries served range from medical and law libraries to special libraries within corporations, government, and military organizations. Data Trek also serves a growing number of public, academic, and school libraries.
Dab Trek has major field offices in New York and Paris, and distributors in Canada, Spain, and Australia.
