Boca Raton, FL, July 24, 2000 - A growing number of school, public and special libraries in Canada and across the globe are turning to Mandarin M3, SIRS Mandarin, Inc.'s popular library automation system, to meet their various automation needs.

Mandarin M3's presence in Canada continues to expand as libraries discover M3's assortment of practical features, including Web Gateways for Adults and Children and multilingual capabilities for English-, Spanish- and French-speaking users. Hellenic Community Library, Chinook Winds Adventist Academy, Conseil Scolaire Catholique Franco-Nord, Bishop Carroll High School, I.V. Macklin School, Mennonite Brethren Collegiate, Hawkesbury Public Library, Bibliotheque Publique de Moonbeam, International Academy of Design, Baie D'Urfe Library, Bialik High School and Alexander Von Humboldt School are among the Canadian institutions that have recently purchased M3.

Mandarin M3 is a flexible and powerful library automation system suitable for libraries of all sizes. M3 incorporates a search engine specifically designed by SIRS Mandarin to search MARC records, as well as a variety of exceptional features:

  • 32-bit client/server architecture and full Windows functionality
  • Networkable software with unlimited site licensing
  • A multilingual OPAC
  • Advanced cataloging and circulation features
  • Serials and Acquisitions modules and customizable reports
  • Z39.50 (level 3) Server and Web Gateways for Adults and Children

Mandarin M3 conforms to advanced and stringent bibliographic and technological standards. The familiar feel of Windows helps users navigate the M3 online public access catalog (OPAC) with ease and target resources with little assistance from library staff. Patrons can choose from three search levels - standard, enhanced and visual catalog.

Libraries can use M3 to create a union catalog customized to meet their needs. Real-time information can be shared among libraries using M3's Classic Merged Union Catalog. Libraries can set up a union catalog on the Internet with M3 Gateways for Adults and Children or M3's Z39.50 Server Module. A convenient Union Catalog Hosting Service is also available for libraries that prefer to have their catalogs hosted at SIRS Mandarin's corporate office in Boca Raton, Florida.

Mandarin M3 is compatible with Windows 95, 98, 2000 and NT. SIRS Mandarin offers M3 users retrospective conversion services, hardware, training, educational users' group meetings and superior technical support - 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
